Andy 60 Posted August 19, 2009 Now, if you were in uh-MUR-icka, B, you'd doubtlessly be cured and off enjoying being in a free society, unlike that socialist hell where you live! I think you got that confused with 'still be complaining and having not been to see the doctor because of having no money' :p
Princess 35 Posted August 19, 2009 Then Ender, why have I been sick for 8 weeks with no idea of what's wrong?
Ender 8 Posted August 19, 2009 Sarcasm much? I love me some NHS.
Andy 60 Posted August 19, 2009 I think if I was in as much pain as Prin for so long, my sarcasm detector would probably have switched off too. :p

Bad furday 57 Posted August 20, 2009 Whenever I see those highly amusing videos of townspeople enraged at town meetings about NHS, all I can think of is "Hicks, cons, and gomers oh my!" *writes* Mr. Ray Kurzweil... can you speed the Singularity along quicker? ;)
Uncle Du 22 Posted August 26, 2009 Nat is 1 cm dilated. Contractions are sporadic at best, water hasn't broken, and she has some spotting, but nothing crazy. Here's to hoping that Tyler is here by next week.

Uncle Du 22 Posted August 26, 2009 Can I be the Unsavory Uncle? I'll think about it... aww! good luck the the Mrs. i have a friend who's due the end of September and she's been in the hospital a couple times recently with contractions. i keep hoping she'll have her's soon as well. We haven't gone to the hospital yet. I'm sure that if this was the first for me, we would have gone already, lol. But, I am the picture of serenity, 'cause I know what's up. :p
Princess 35 Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) So on Monday, I went to U of M's pelvic pain clinic because that's where I was told to go. I took 80 pages of medical records, 3 imaging CDs and surgical picture with me. The doctor glanced over my records, talked to me about my symptoms and then did a pelvic exam on me before telling me that there was nothing that they could do for me and that I would have better luck with GI. But would they make the appointment for me? No. They didn't want to do anything without a paper copy of my referral in their hands. Finally got an appointment for September 4th. On the way home I was still experiencing a lot of pain so my mom took me to the emergency room again. I saw Dr McLean again and she got me admitted for pain management. Around 12:30 they got a room for me and I was taken upstairs to the 5th floor. My roommate was the grandmother of one of my coworkers. She was in glove restraints because she kept causing injuries to herself and tearing out her IV and she just kept asking for help. She was also incontinent, so they had to come in and change her often, My favorites were the middle of the night changes when I was asleep and they turned the light on. Ugh. Tuesday night a patient down the hall went nuts and was walking naked in the hall trying to pull out her PICC line. They got her back into bed. For two hours... At three am there was a repeat performance. For the love of God, someone put this woman in some restraints! Wednesday passes uneventfully. Lay in bed and get pain medicine every 2 hours. Get a visit from my guy too. Thursday. Meet evil hospitalist doctor. A hospitalist is a doctor who only works in the hospital and takes care of certain patients if your doctor doesn't have privileges in the hospital. These doctors know nothing of your background. Evil hospitalist doctor never even touched me to do a physical exam. He just stood at the end of my bed and looked distant and told me that there was nothing wrong with me and after the consults that I was waiting for then I would be discharged. My mom is also currently fighting with the hospital and my insurance company over getting me out of observation status and into inpatient status like I was supposed to be. Not fun. Saw the surgeon and neurologist. Neurologist couldn't do anything to help me but the surgeon has some ideas once I get back from U of M on Friday. Also switches me from IV dilaudid to oral. Said that if it worked, I could go home tomorrow. Crazy lady went crazy again, luckily at 11pm this time. She got a hold of the call button and her phone and was using it as a weapon. Took my man and 6 security officers to get her back under control and restrained in bed. Friday. The oral dilaudid doesn't work for crap. I can only take it every 4 hours, it takes an hour to kick in, gives me about an hour of relief and then I have 2 hours of this terrible pain before I can take more. And the ewoking hospialist discharges me! I'm in the same amount of pain as when I first walked into the ER 4 days earlier. My mom threw a fit. I'm curled up in the fetal position on the bed because I hurt so much. And because the doctor discharged me, no one in the hospital can do anything for me because my insurance company won't pay for it after discharge orders have been written. I start sweating and feel hot all over. I'm running a low grade fever and no one could do anything because I was discharged. My mom argued for 2 hours saying that they were treating me like an animal by not doing anything when she had said that day before that she didn't even want evil hospitalist to be my doctor. (There's about 5 of them on at any day). Finally we gave up and I got my wheelchair ride down to the car, with a side trip to the pharmacy because my dad took my prescriptions downstairs while I was changing out of my hospital gown. We stop to pick them up and the pharmacy tech tells me that there's a problem. The evil hospitalist doesn't have a DEA number on file!!! And he didn't write it on the prescription! So they paged him and he said he didn't know his number. I burst into tears at this point and screamed "Is he even a real doctor?" because he couldn't prescribe narcotics without that number. And he did prescribe 2 narcotic painkillers for me. I was screwed until the pharmacist figured something out and got me my medicine so that I could leave the hospital. Princess 35 Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) I don't even think that he's a real doctor and I want him investigated. But on the plus side, I just got a cancellation appointment today with the GI doctor at U of M Edited August 31, 2009 by Princess
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted August 31, 2009 he definitely needs to be investigated. i hope you were able to get the ball rolling on that.
Andy 60 Posted August 31, 2009 I can't even be bothered to go back to the doctor again; I'll wait until it gets worse so I don't feel like I'm whining about nothing. It probably won't though lol
Uncle Du 22 Posted August 31, 2009 Sheesh Prin. So you still had to have that doctor, even after you stated you wanted a different one? That's ewokin' illegal, what the hell?! What a bunch of crap!
Princess 35 Posted September 1, 2009 Yeah, he's getting turned in. I got a copy of my records today to take to U of M and he charted that he did a full physical exam on me when he never touched me and stated that I may have a problem with narcotic dependency. My mom found out today that he went to med school in Jordan and did his residency in New York. Anyways, I got to U of M today for a GI appointment and I might be diagnosed. It's just going to take an MRI which I've been asking for for 2 weeks now.
Uncle Du 22 Posted September 1, 2009 In Jordan? As in, the country?
Princess 35 Posted September 1, 2009 Correct. And he's committing insurance fraud by billing for things that he didn't do by charting that he did a physical exam.
