Princess 35 Posted July 23, 2009 And since I stayed out of it for the colonoscopy, I think I'm safe for the EGD. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can get moved up if there's a cancellation because I'm still in a lot of pain. And my upper GI is Friday morning
Andy 60 Posted July 23, 2009 Blood tests on Monday, nerve conduction (about time) on Wednesday. Next week looks fun. :p
Princess 35 Posted July 23, 2009 Fun. Good luck B! Called the gastroenterologist and got my EGD moved up to Monday because of the pain I'm in.
Princess 35 Posted July 25, 2009 Today's upper GI was awful. The barium cocktail was disgusting. So was the lemon-lime alka seltzer crap. I NEVER want to have to go through this again. I almost puked twice.
Andy 60 Posted July 27, 2009 Well they have my blood now so I'll wait and see what happens there. I'll probably wait until I have the results of the nerve conduction study (got that on Wednesday) ready too so I can get them all at the same time to save me going back for results twice. lol
James the Defender 7 Posted July 27, 2009 On my front, everything is going much better. My stomach is almost not bothering me at all since I've been taking Gaviscon and now that I'm stressed less.
Princess 35 Posted July 28, 2009 The gastroenterologist told me to stop taking my pain medicine today because that's causing my pain. ewok that and ewok him. I can't even stand up straight without pain medicine. I had to stop taking it last night before this scope today and now I'm having trouble getting it controlled again and all I do is keep crying every now and then because I'm so frustrated because no doctor wants to work together and figure out what the ewok is wrong with me. I've been in pain for almost 6 weeks now. Seriously, this isn't normal people! I'm going to the University of Michigan
Princess 35 Posted July 30, 2009 Cuz I had a bad day Don't read if you're squeamish. How'd your test go B?
Andy 60 Posted July 30, 2009 Eh it was alright, was more annoying than painful lol. To be fair the shocks just felt like twitches... which I am doing a lot of anyway at the moment... lol The person doing the test said after the test that she couldn't see anything that would suggest a trapped nerve, but it'll take a couple of weeks for the results to be analysed properly. I was thinking afterwards... is that really a good thing? She didn't say she couldn't see anything that would suggest something worse... lol, guess I'll have to wait for the results but it looks like it'll probably just come back normal. Princess 35 Posted July 30, 2009 Have you tried going to a chiropractor at all Beeurd?
Andy 60 Posted July 30, 2009 Nope. I don't think they are available on the NHS anyway so I'd have to pay.
Princess 35 Posted July 30, 2009 It might be worth it B. I used to pay out of pocket for mine because my arms would go numb when my back was out
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted July 30, 2009 I was thinking afterwards... is that really a good thing? She didn't say she couldn't see anything that would suggest something worse... lol, guess I'll have to wait for the results but it looks like it'll probably just come back normal. patients like you who have had an ongoing issue always made me pray for a positive result on the scan (positive meaning a problem has been found). i hated seeing a negative GI Bleed scan on this guy who was whiter than paper. i hope they find something soon, B. the li'l sis is having a HIDA scan sometime soonish to check her gallbladder. she's been having stomach pains after eating for years, but her stupid doctor ordered some kind of barium study. when that (of course) came back normal, he ordered the test he should have ordered first. now, it may be that i'm biased since HIDA scans are pretty much bread and butter for Nucs, but i've been saying for sometime that her gallbladder needed to be checked out. just because there were no stones doesn't mean the thing is fine. my money's on chronic cholecystitis and her GB never shows (acute cholecystitis the GB would show up, but it would be delayed). Princess 35 Posted July 30, 2009 Hope it all goes well for her.
Andy 60 Posted August 4, 2009 I seem to be all right now. Last couple of days I've been pretty much fine, and it was gradually getting less and less of a problem anyway. Guess it must have passed whatever it was... Still gotta go back in a week or so for test results and such but I'm not really stressing over it. If the tests don't really show anything I guess I'll just forget about and and stop being paranoid. :p
Andy 60 Posted August 5, 2009 Hmm, maybe I spoke to soon. Weirdness has been back today... which adds more weight to the theory I had that warm weather makes it worse. It's all very vague though still so it could be a coincidence. *SLAPS SELF* stop it. :p
James the Defender 7 Posted August 6, 2009 I'm paranoid, too, B; don't worry :p
Princess 35 Posted August 7, 2009 My big ugly blister that I got after an unfortunate accident with a glue gun the other night finally popped. I am so happy.
Andy 60 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Eww. Booked an eye test for tomorrow so I can stop being paranoid and worrying whether I have intermediate uveitis or some other random eye problem or nothing at all. I only worry because I have some new floaty bits in my vision. Most of the internet says that everyone gets them eventually and they are usually nothing to worry about... It's quit amusing moving your eyes about then watching them float down, actually... One of them is annoying though because it blurs my vision when it passes by. So, hopefully tomorrow I can stop worrying about my eyes. :p Edited August 7, 2009 by Andy
Andy 60 Posted August 18, 2009 Another blood test coming up... This time for coeliac disease, although the doctor said it's unlikely. My previous blood tests came back normal apart from low levels of folic acid. Nerve conduction was normal too, so I guess I don't have to worry about the really bad things. :p
James the Defender 7 Posted August 18, 2009 Caity is having joint and ligament pain and has been for a few years, but it's getting worse now. She was tested for lyme, RA, and had entire panels of things tested, but the only thing the blood test showed was that she had borderline low levels of B vitamins... odd...
Princess 35 Posted August 18, 2009 Beeurd, did he test you for vitamin b12 too? That goes in conjunction with folic acid usually and B12 is very important to the body
Princess 35 Posted August 19, 2009 I had to have a cystoscopy today and never want to have that done again. I didn't think it was too bad at first but then the doctor said he was in the wrong spot and then he repositioned the scope and it was a whole new level of unpleasant
Andy 60 Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) Beeurd, did he test you for vitamin b12 too? Just folic acid was dodgy. Back for blood test on Monday. lol Edited August 19, 2009 by Andy
Ender 8 Posted August 19, 2009 Now, if you were in uh-MUR-icka, B, you'd doubtlessly be cured and off enjoying being in a free society, unlike that socialist hell where you live! :p
