CorSec 5 Posted April 3, 2004 Yeah...pretty much. I live in general ignorance. As long they're happy...have fun. Not my life.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 5, 2004 lol Here's the spot where politicians just hate... I believe that homosexuals should have the same rights and benefits as a heterosexual couple, without the title of marriage. I think calling it a Civil Union is fine. chozen 1 Posted April 5, 2004 Eh. What's wrong with calling it marriage, anywho/how?

GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 12, 2004 uh...that really all depends on your religion...
Alexander 0 Posted April 12, 2004 If you give gays civil unions with the EXACT same rights as marriage you're splitting one word into two, which is redundant. If people are married under civil unions they're not going to say "We're civilly united." They're going to say "We're married." Seperate is not equal. That's all I'm going to say right now because I don't feel like typing something long.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 12, 2004 Well...a lot of words replace other words... For example: I'm going to f*** you up! usually means im gonna beat you....badly...but its literal translation means...[Censored] So...only on politically correct things ((Like speeches and official papers)) will they be called civil unions. Everyone else will probably be too lazy and call them marriages.
Alexander 0 Posted April 12, 2004 Words can have multiple meanings, true enough. However, to create multiple words with the same meaning is pointless.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 12, 2004 Not true...its been done before...hence we have synonyms... Such as: Corpse Dead BOdy Cadavers...etc.
Alexander 0 Posted April 12, 2004 Not true...its been done before...hence we have synonyms... Such as: Corpse Dead BOdy Cadavers...etc. Cadaver is a term used for when a body is specifically going to be used for autopsy or dissection. Dead Body is two words. Corpse just refers to a dead human. Marriage is a legal union between two people. A civil union would be a legal union between two people.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 12, 2004 Marriage is a legal union between a man and a woman. Civil Union is a legal union between a homosexual pair...also it is 2 words :p
Alexander 0 Posted April 12, 2004 ...also it is 2 words Got me there.
Tsl 7 Posted April 12, 2004 Cadaver is a term used for when a body is specifically going to be used for autopsy or dissection. Then how come that term is used to describe any dead body, lol. Like...they call them cadaver dogs, but the dogs aren't finding people to dissect neccesarily :p
GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 12, 2004 Well...some might...those dogs go for anything...living or dead...:p
Mirax 3 Posted April 13, 2004 If a man and woman get married outside the church, is it still marriage or is it a civil union? What about common law? Would that apply to a homosexual couple?
