Alexander 0 Posted March 1, 2004 (edited) that, and technically, the Romans killed him I see it as the Romans provided the gun, but the Jews pulled the trigger. As for this film bringing about Anti-Semitistism, it won't. Blaming people for something committed by their ancestors is ludicrous. If anything, it'll get people pissed off at Romans, not Jews. ;) Edited March 1, 2004 by Alexander
Andy 60 Posted March 1, 2004 If anything, it'll get people pissed off at Romans Yeah, damn those Romans. We better stop them before it's too late!

Drake 53 Posted March 1, 2004 How can it be anti-Semetic is it was about a story that was written by Jews, about a Jew and his Jewish disciples?
Roethlisberger 0 Posted March 1, 2004 The movie was written by Mel Gibson, about a Jew. I know the story comes from the Christian Bible, but there have been inaccuracies. The line that Caphais says in the film that isn't subtitled is "his blood will be on us and our children"
Drake 53 Posted March 1, 2004 The movie was written according to the Bible. It has been stated constantly by most religious leaders, both Christian and Jewish, to be accurate to the events as they happened according to the four Gospels.
Andy 60 Posted March 1, 2004 You're a couple thousand years behind, B. lol, Nah. The Romans were good for the world. Plus they had the second best Empire after us Brits ;)
Roethlisberger 0 Posted March 1, 2004 Gibson wouldn't allow Jewish people to see it in advance. Jewish people don't believe in Jesus being the Messiah, so they don't think it's accurate at all.
Drake 53 Posted March 2, 2004 It wasn't that he didn't let them see it, it was that he previewed it first to the people who knew the story the best...the Christians. He wanted to get an opinion from them first. Of course the Jews wouldn't see it as accurate because it's not their belief. The athiests or Muslims or Hindus wouldn't see it as accurate either, although some may convert because of it.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted March 2, 2004 i've heard it's pretty powerful. although i have a less graphic version called The Lamb of God that's just as powerful, if not more so. sometimes, the imagination conjers a more powerful image than any that can be put on screen. Roethlisberger 0 Posted March 2, 2004 Martin Scorcese's Last Temptation of Christ is a great film, but it doesn't show a single sign of Anti-Semitism or is it as bloody.
Alexander 0 Posted March 2, 2004 Martin Scorcese's Last Temptation of Christ is a great film, but it doesn't show a single sign of Anti-Semitism or is it as bloody. That was a terrible movie.
Roethlisberger 0 Posted March 2, 2004 No it wasn't, but I can't say that it's better than the Passion, because I haven't seen the Passion and probably won't.
Drake 53 Posted March 2, 2004 Then please don't judge it based on the reviews of critics.
