GI_Admiral 2 Posted October 24, 2004 The best thing for the people is unpopular, that is why most politicians stay away from doing them. Im not saying that you have to either preach your religion, or ignore it completely. There is a grey area, Bush just happens to claim things in the name of God which I don't like. Andy 60 Posted October 24, 2004 Can you form an embryo if the eggs are not viable? Can you form an embryo is the sperm is dead? Therefore, everytime a woman mensturates or a man ejaculates, they are killing innocent lives. Just think about that. Don't be silly. They aren't really 'alive' in that sense. That's like saying that every time you have a nosebleed you are ending the lives of hundreds of blood cells.

Alexander 0 Posted October 25, 2004 (edited) Blood cells move and they're not alive. You might want to elaborate. I know what you mean, but still, need to elaborate. On another note, I have a confession to make. I've killed billions of lives. Edited October 25, 2004 by Alexander
Tsl 7 Posted October 25, 2004 All cells are alive. Duh. The difference is, they aren't sentient lives.

Princess 35 Posted October 25, 2004 I think you two both passed the TMI line. I was just trying to prove a point. When does life truly begin? Is there a moment or is it just a continuation?
Mickey 1 Posted October 25, 2004 from what I understand, isn't the most commonly accepted time about the end of the first trimester, in humans. I know little about the subject matter, but I do support any research that helps human lives ... unless it would result from the slaughter of SENTIENT lives. I consider myself a conservative, but I do believe there are situations in which abortion is perfectly okay. i.e. rape victims, but that it should be done in a time period before the fetus has developed into sentient life. Whenever that may be.

Alexander 0 Posted October 25, 2004 (edited) I think you two both passed the TMI line. I was just trying to prove a point. When does life truly begin? Is there a moment or is it just a continuation? When it doesn't need to be attached to something to survive. Therefore, my feelings on it are once the baby leaves the womb, and the cord cut, it is an independent life. Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted October 25, 2004 see, i believe it's an independent life the moment of conception. sure, it still depends on its mother, but it's still a child.
Tsl 7 Posted October 25, 2004 I like to count the moment the child could survive outside the womb...with technological assistance, if neccesary, of course. Though I have seen them save preemies who should have not been saved..... That's for another debate though :)
Bushy 0 Posted October 25, 2004 Princess, why can't you just admit when you're wrong? That illustration you gave was completely groundless. Sperm, etc. are not sentient. Durr. Don't scratch yourself, you're murdering. I think I'll go rub one out in the bathroom here at school just out of spite.
Andy 60 Posted October 25, 2004 they're probably the lucky ones anyway... i'd like kids someday, but i probably wouldn't want to burden them with life.

Why don't you get your head out of your ass and admit that people can have opinions that don't exactly match your uber-conservativness? And seriously, can life be created from something that is not living?
Bushy 0 Posted October 25, 2004 Why not hopping off your high horse once and a while and stop cramming your "opinions" down other peoples' throats with your all mighty admin powers. Oooooooooo, scary... I love how you think it's cute and all to make remarks like "take your head out of your ass", which is just another way of saying "hey moron, you're wrong, look at my reasoning, I'm right", which is something I've been banned twice for doing. God I love double standards.
Tsl 7 Posted October 25, 2004 Actually it's a crude way of calling you closed-minded, which you are. Now either debate civilly or go away. That applies to everyone.
Mickey 1 Posted October 25, 2004 baaaaaah, you must all beleive what I say NOW!!! You are all wrong I am right. Oh crap, that wasn't civil was it?
