Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted July 10, 2004 i think most major religions in the US allow poeple to make their own decisions. granted, the Muslim faith has pretty strict rules and guidelines, but here in America, it's not legal to shoot your daughter for showing a bit of ankle. Where do you get your ideas from? That's just plain racism. no, i heard an account of it. they do have very strict modesty rules for women and if the rules are not obeyed, the women can be killed for it. same deal with premarital sex. i think it has something to do with family honor. and my German teacher is Muslim, and i respect him very much. in fact, he's been one of my favorite teachers. i have no problem whatsoever with those poeple who choose to follow that particular faith. or any other faith. i may disagree, but i don't hate them. man i hate how PC the world has gotten lately.... Tsl 7 Posted July 10, 2004 There is a nursing shortage now, so I can get a job easily. That's one job they can't send overseas . The grocery store down the street is the about the only place students and part timers can get work, because the pay is lousy and the hours are lousier and no one wants to work there. People in computers, software, programming, etc. and manufacturing factory type jobs are screwed though. All the IT jobs are going to India and all the manufacturing jobs are going to various third world countries...as they have been for sometime now. The economy isn't great. Princess 35 Posted July 10, 2004 I'd say that Michigan was one of the hardest hit states by that crap of NAFTA and now the one for the Carribbean too. Sure, let's make it easier for companies to sell jobs overseas where employees work in inhumane conditions for pennies. And heck, let's not forget that you get money into the country by charging tariffs on imports, not by having all these free trade agreements. And these countries that we're exporting all of our work to don't have as high of safety standards so we end up getting kid's toys with mercury and lead in them. Fortunately, I'm like TSL, there's a huge shortage of lab techs nationwide right now and the entire lab population is getting close to retirement age with no one stepping up in the education field to fill those positions.
