Star Wars News & Features

News and information from a Galaxy Far Far Away, and sometimes a little closer to home.
While we haven't seen much of The Force Awakens yet, one thing we have seen is the highly controversial cross-guard lightsaber wielded by the mysterious cloaked figure currently known to us only by a brief segment of the teaser trailer, and his name: Kylo Ren.

In an interview with the New Yorker, Apple's chief designer Jonathan Ive has recalled a dinner party conversation he attended with Star Wars director JJ Abrams where the topic of conversation turned towards lightsaber design.

It's unknown as to how influential Ive's suggestion to Abrams was, but if anybody was going to design a more sinister looking lightsaber it would be Apple. ;)

The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy have been announced as special guests at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim this April.

An all new art show featuring over 30 artists, as well as displays of props from the Star Wars saga are among the attractions on offer this year.

Hasbro's latest line of Star Wars toys lets kids customize their own lightsaber by collecting interconnecting parts.

For years, plastic toy lightsabers have been available, but Hasbro's new lightsaber system - Bladebuilders - due to launch later this year allows kids (or big kids!) to create a lightsaber of their own design. Different hilts, blades, and connecting parts are available to mix and match for a unique weapon from a more civilized age.

The starter pack is said to contain a lightsaber with light and sound, two daggers, an expansion hilt, and several connectors so that you can get started with your custom design right away.

Bladebuilders will be on display at the American International Toy Fair in New York this weekend.

The popular London tourist attraction is recreating several scenes from the Star Wars movies in a multi-million pound collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm.

In addition to a scene depicting Yoda on Dagobah, waxwork artists have spent several months recreating Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader's epic duel aboard the second Death Star, and a scene featuring Princess Leia and Jabba the Hutt - no prizes for guessing which costume Leia's waxwork will be wearing!

The full exhibit will feature 16 Star Wars characters from the the six movies released so far, and contain immersive walk-in scenes so you can enjoy a drink with Han Solo at the Mos Eisley Cantina, or take the Millennium Falcon for a spin with Chewbacca as your co-pilot.

Months of speculation have come to an end as the title for Star Wars Episode VII was officially revealed.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was announced as the title completed principle photography on 6th November, as revealed on the official Star Wars Twitter feed.

The film started shooting at Pinewood Studios in the UK in May this year, and has not been without it's hiccups; including a fortnight shutdown after Harrison Ford suffered a broken leg after a run in with a malfunctioning door on the iconic Millennium Falcon.

It had long been heavily rumored that the title of the latest episode of the saga would be The Ancient Fear, a rumor now officially put to rest.

The Force Awakens is scheduled to hit the big screen in just over a years time on 18th December 2015.

Miltos Yerolemou Joins Episode VII Cast

    By TheUnknown, in General News,

The BBC is reporting that Miltos Yerolemou has joined the cast for Episode VII in what appears to be a relatively minor role. One of Yerolemou's better known, recent roles is of the Braavosi swordsman Syrio Forel on Game of Thrones. Yerolemou's swordfighting abilities has led to speculation that he will have some sort of involvement with lightsabers, though nothing has been confirmed Yerolemou is actually the second Game of Thrones cast member to join the cast of Episode VII. Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth) has previously been announced.
