    Thought to be killed on the second Death Star in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, rumour has it that Ian McDiarmid is set to reprise his role as Dark Lord of the Sith and Emperor, Palpatine, for Episode VII.

    It is unknown at this point what this would mean, but some sources indicate Darth Sidious may be returning as a Force ghost as we have previously seen from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. Other sources seem to indicate a clone scenario like the cloned Emperor Palpatine's return in the expanded universe, although it has previously been suggested that elements from the expanded universe would not be carried over to the new Star Wars trilogy.

    Williams to score Episode VII

    Composer John Williams has confirmed that he will be returning to a galaxy far far away to score Star Wars Episode VII.

    Composer John Williams has confirmed that he will be returning to a galaxy far far away to score Star Wars Episode VII.



    The fan favourite who has scored all six previous movies denies he has seen a script but it is looking forward to getting back to Star Wars.
    British actor and actress Alex Pettyfer (Stormbreaker, I Am Number Four), and Rachel Hurd-Wood (Dorian Grey, Peter Pan) have reportedly been spotted auditioning for roles in Star Wars Episode VII.



    It is believed that Pettyfer is being considered for the role of Luke Skywalker's son, while Hurd-Wood is being considered as Leia's daughter.



    More on these rumours as we get it.

    Star Wars to return to 35mm film

    Star Wars Episode VII is apparently due to make a U-turn from the digital shooting of the prequel era and return to 35mm film.

    Director JJ Abrams is expected to bring his director of photography, Daniel Mindel on board to film Episode VII, which will mean a return to 35mm film, a format Abrams is known to be committed to.

    2002 saw the release of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, which was the first foray of Star Wars onto the latest high definition digital systems, followed by Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in 2005.

    A return to celluloid could mean the sequels will evoke the classic trilogy rather than the prequels. Abrams and Mindel previously used 35mm to bring 2009's Star Trek and it's sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness to the big screen.

    Kenobi

    Kenobi is a new novel from John Jackson Miller about, you guessed it, Obi-Wan Kenobi. It follows Obi-Wan's early days of exile on Tattooine following the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

    The latest rumours are indicating that the eagerly anticipated sequel, Star Wars Episode VII, is headed for release towards the end of 2015.

    It has never been officially announced but previous estimates pinned Episode VII during summer 2015. Production is allegedly due to start in January 2014, but details are currently scarce as new LucasFilm owners Disney remain tight lipped.
