    Having spoken to fellow Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill and Ewan McGregor, Mace Windu actor Samuel L Jackson has revealed that none of them have been contacted by the Star Wars Episode VII casting department.

    Jackson says that despite repeated hints that he want to return for Episode VII all he has had is an "hmm".

    It was reported earlier in the year that Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the classic trilogy, was in training to get fit for a return to Star Wars. But according to Jackson the two spoke recently and Hamill denied being contacted to reprise his role.

    Also speaking to Samuel L Jackson recently was Ewan McGregor, who has also denied any involvement with the new sequel trilogy in production by Disney. The Episodes VII script has apparently still not been finalised, and producers are keen to cast a 40-something military man, similar to Matt Damon's portrayal in 2013's Elysium.

    Earlier in the year it was rumoured that Han Solo's legendary YT-1300 freighter, the Millennium Falcon, was being designed ready for a comeback in Star Wars Episode VII.

    While we are still waiting for solid casting news, the latest information comes from an insider that told Yahoo! News that construction of the interior and exterior of the Millennium Falcon was now complete.

    The set is apparently a full-scale model of the starship, and has been constructed in sections so it can be dismantled and reassembled in Pinewood Studios when production moves there for filming in January 2014.

    The return of the Falcon is sure to be a welcome addition to Episode VII, and has always been a firm favourite with fans. According to sources this set is expected to be the definitive version of the Corellian starship. But of course, it won't be complete without smuggler and scoundrel owner, Han Solo, and his Wookiee co-pilot, Chewbacca!

    It has been revealed that the Star Wars gaming deal between Disney and EA is one that will last at least a decade. The gaming giant signed a ten year licence to continue to publish video games set in the Star Wars universe.

    So far the only confirmed game in development is DICE's next installment in the Star Wars: Battlefront series, with development and support continuing as planned for the MMO The Old Republic.

    EAs chief financial officer, Blake Jorgenson, insists that they do not plan on simply creating games based on the movies and will continue to delve into and add to the rich diversity of the expanded universe.

    BioWare, original developers of the Knights of the Old Republic series, and Dead Space developer Visceral have also been mentioned in connection to future Star Wars titles. Unfortunately, however, there has still been no sign of a revival of the eagerly anticipated 1313 project.

    Happy 50th to Doctor Who!

    On this day in 1963 television viewers in the UK got a first look at a BBC experiment that would become a worldwide sci-fi phenomenon.

    It's not every day a science fiction franchise reaches 50 years old, let alone still has it's original television series still in production (okay, so it had a hiatus in the 80s until 2005, but shush!) but Doctor Who defiantly continues onwards, despite what some of the more old school BBC bosses of the 1960s predicted.

    For those not in the know, Doctor Who sees an enigmatic character known only as the Doctor travel the galaxy in his space-time machine, the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space). The Doctor hails from the planet Galifrey, home of an ancient and advanced all-but-extinct race known as the Time Lords.

    Tonight, sci-fi fans across the world will be glued to their screens as the Eleventh Doctor teams up with his previous incarnation to confront his darkest secret. Check out the fantastic trailer below:

    The 50th anniversary special, Day of the Doctor, is being simulcast around the world, so be sure to check your TV guide for the broadcast time and channel in your area.

    In related news, there is a rumor flying round that current Doctor Who star Matt Smith, who is set to leave the show at the end of the year, has recently been spotted auditioning for a role in Star Wars Episode VII. Watch this space!

    Official Release Date Announced

    We're very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture.

    Disney and Lucasfilm have announced the official release date for Epiosode 7 via Twitter and StarWars.com! The much anticipated date will be December 18, 2015


    Shooting is scheduled to begin spring of 2014 at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire.

    An open casting call sheet from Disney has been posted and has people speculating if this is for the next movie in the Star Wars series

    Disney has posted details about an open casting call for two young characters (male and female) with vague background details, and will be holding auditions throughout the UK. The fact that J.J. Abrams is directing and the roles are vague is leading to speculation that this could be for Episode 7 (as the last time the director had a similar listing, he was secretly casting his film Super 8.) Studio has neither confirmed nor denied that these auditions are for Episode 7, and Star Wars has a history of casting relative unknowns for their movies, so the chances could be pretty good that this is indeed for the film.

    The descriptions of the characters have people speculating how the film is going to involve the characters.



    Theories have included a story that goes back and forth between the time after Return of the Jedi and the potential setting of Episode 7, or that these characters are going to be friends/supporting characters along with the children of previous characters, even calls for a possible "parental twist" have been tossed around as well.

    In an interview with The Times, Star Wars Episode VII director JJ Abrams spoke about the new film currently in development; but wasn't giving too much away...

    Abrams is notorious for remaining tight-lipped about his movies, and the same is true when it comes to Star Wars Episode VII. Abrams hinted that he wants to return Star Wars to it's grittier space-western roots of the classic movies, rather than the scintillating cities of the prequel trilogy.

    Speaking to The Times newspaper he said, "I loved how Star Wars had that sense of a world far beyond the borders of what you can see and have been told – it's one of the things it did so brilliantly.

    "If you watch the first movie, you don't actually know exactly what the Empire is trying to do. They're going to rule by fear – but you don't know what their end game is.

    "The beauty of that movie was that it was an unfamiliar world, and yet you wanted to see it expand and to see where it went."

    This echoes previous statements that suggest Abrams was trying to make Star Wars Episode VII more like the original movies, however there is still no solid confirmation of what form the story will take or even who has even been cast.

    Despite calls from the production team to push the release date of Episode VII into 2016, Disney remains adamant that the film will debut on the big screen in 2015.

    Producer Kathleen Kennedy apparently called on Disney bosses to push back the release date as we creep closer to the expected filming start date of spring 2014. It is believed that production falling behind schedule is what prompted the departure of screenwriter Michael Arndt, leaving the task of scripting Episode VII to director JJ Abrams and The Empire Strikes Back co-writer Lawrence Kasdan.

    Disney plans to release a new Star Wars movie every year, including the main Star Wars saga and various spin-offs every other year, and it seems that Disney CEO Bob Iger does not plan on letting this grand scheme fall behind.

    2015 is already packed full of big movies, with the final installment of Hunger Games, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the Batman and Superman movie, and Disney clearly wants a slice of the action.

    Let's hope they can pull it off without having to rush Star Wars Episode VII.

    A lighter side of the Force has been found!

    Some rare footage from the shooting of the original trilogy has surfaced on YouTube featuring bloopers by the cast! The footage was gathered by J.W. Rinzler, an editor who found the footage in an archive. A small group of people was selected to see the footage at San Diego ComicCon, and after a wait, some of the footage is now able to be viewed by everyone. The video is included after the article.

    Also surfacing in the past few days was a Laserdisc containing 30 minutes of raw behind-the-scenes footage of the filming of Return of the Jedi. The disc recently sold for $699 on ebay, and the winner plans on making footage available in digital format for everyone.

    The Star Wars/Halloween themed commercial came out this past week to great reviews. The ad features a family all decked out (yes, even the dog) in Star Wars themed costumes to advertise for the newest Android phones.

    This commercial seems to be one of the first to air in the United States that references the connection openly between the Star Wars franchise and Google's Android phones, and with the acquisition of LucasFilm by Disney, one can only hope that this is just the beginning.
