Solo: A Star Wars Story

Hmm...

It does have some blue on it, like the Falcon in Solo.

There has been a lot of speculation on what the extra bit is for haha. I think I saw someone mention an escape pod. Or something Lando added for one reason or another.

I did see a quote from Ron Howard I think saying that he couldn't say what it was for because it'd be a spoiler, so... take that the way you want. :p

I do have to say I'm more hyped for this after seeing the trailer.

Not sure when I'm seeing it yet, but some critic reviews are starting to appear so I'll collate them into an article as soon as I can.

Really fun movie, I loved it!

And the ending leaves it open to the possibility of more, if that ever comes to Disney's mind. (Alden is signed up for three films, but those could be cameos, or just to lock him up "just in case." So who knows).

Also...

DARTH FREAKING MAUL!!

It was a pleasant surprise! Chewy and Lando stole the show IMO.

That, and the surprise cameo at the end!

I am definitely going to see it again. See if I can pick out the little details/Easter eggs I missed the first time around.

Yeah I definitely heard quite a few.

I've added some to the trivia section on the Solo page:

I kinda hope they do a sequel. I know it's not done particularly well at the box office so far, partly  because of the inflated budget, but if anybody can pull strings to get it done it's Disney. :p

But anyway, my sequel thoughts:

Spoiler

It's heavily implied that Han and Chewie are off to Tatooine to work for Jabba. Who else do we know who hangs around with this guy? Boba Fett.

Who does Fett have a grudge against? Obi-Wan Kenobi, who just happens to also live on Tatooine. Yeah, so Han can't really meet Obi-Wan or it'd clash with A New Hope... But Chewie could meet Obi-Wan, as long as he doesn't find out the name of the ship he is first mate on. 😛

Maul and Obi-Wan also have a bit of a thing going on too, but I confess that I don't know how well any mention of that would fit in the continuity.

There's a few dots to connect there. But of course we would need Qi'ra and Lando in there too. 👍

Yup, hahaha.

Not sure why it spoiler-tagged the whole thing...

That does sort of fit with that theory I saw about the Solo/Boba/Obi films being a loose trilogy of themselves.  Whether it's true remains to be seen.

With the main actors from Solo supposedly signed on for three films, I can see them being cameos in the others or something like that.   But then again, Disney could just be doing it for insurance and don't have concrete plans to involve the characters again.[/spoiler]

I did see a quote from Ron Howard the other day, where he said there wasn't any plans for a sequel to Solo, that the way the film ended was just a way to get Han to where we see him in ANH or whatever.   But you never know... Disney is like a cult sometimes with their secrets... he could know more than he's letting on.

He had mentioned it could be fun to do a Lando movie. Though Lucasfilm has refuted that they are working on one or considering one, at least not for awhile.

Ron did say it would be cool to do something with the different crime syndicates. Which given the ending of Solo... I can see that being a possibility for a film. I'd definitely be in for something more like Rogue One, that focuses on an event, instead of Solo/Boba/Obi which would focus on one character.

Some people are saying that Solo is sort of like a Marvel Star Wars movie, the way it connects to the rest of the films/other media. Basically "forcing" you to watch the others for it to make sense.  Not sure if it's a one-time thing or if SW moving forward will connect more like that.

    • Joss Whedon in Star Wars talks?

The second Star Wars Anthology film ran into trouble recently when director Josh Trank stepped down from the project. Some reports say Trank was fired from the film after disagreements with the other key production crew members. In either case Lucasfilm are on the lookout for a replacement, and the latest rumors from Latino Review indicate that they may be looking to Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon to fill that spot.
He has already expressed a desire to move on from the Marvel universe, after helming both Avengers movies and writing for Marvel's Agents of  SHIELD television series, and perhaps Disney aren't ready to let him go just yet. Another possibility is the fabled Star Wars live-action television series which has been in development limbo for a decade but occasionally pops up in a rumor, and he is no stranger to science-fiction or fantasy on TV, having created cult classics Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Dollhouse.
No official source has yet commented on these rumors as usual, so little may come of them, but even the possibility of Joss Whedon joining Star Wars is sure to excite fans.
    • Solo official teaser trailer

The official trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story is here, featuring Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian and their first adventures with the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy - the Millennium Falcon.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits cinemas on 25 May 2018.
    • Han Solo cast - who's who?

The Han Solo spin-off film is currently in production for release in 2018. Although we are still a long way from having any details of the storyline, we do know that we will see a young Han Solo in action.
So far four actors have been confirmed, so let's take a look at our new Han Solo and the people who will be joining everybody's favourite scoundrel.

      Alden Ehrenreich - Han Solo

Taking up the mantle of the eponymous smuggler, Han Solo is the young Californian actor Alden Ehrenreich. He was chosen after a lengthy casting period that aimed to find an actor who could capture the spirit of the character made famous by Harrison Ford.
Ehrenreich was first discovered by Steven Spielberg, which led to several television roles before he had his big screen debut in Francis Ford Coppola's Tetro. He later went on to star in Beautiful Creatures, Stoker, and the Coen brothers comedy Hail, Caesar!
On 5 May 2015 he was confirmed as being cast in the lead role of a young Han Solo in the second of the Star Wars spin-off movies.

      Donald Glover - Lando Calrissian

Joining Han Solo as the irrepressible Lando Calrissian is Donald Glover, who has already had a varied career in entertainment having made a name for himself in almost every avenue of show business.
Glover has written for NBC comedy 30 Rock and had an acting role in Community. He is also due to appear in Marvel's Spider-man: Homecoming superhero reboot. Incidentally, Stan Lee supported Glover for the lead role in Sony's The Amazing Spider-man.
Glover has also released several rap albums as Childish Gambino, and also DJs and produces electronic music under the name of mcDJ.
On 21 October 2016 he was confirmed as being cast as Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo movie.

      Emilia Clarke

Playing an unknown role in the Han Solo movie is Emilia Clarke, who shot to fame as Danaerys Targaryen in HBO's television adaption of Game of Thrones.
Clarke recently starred as Sarah Connor in 2015's Terminator: Genisys, and had the lead role in the 2016 worldwide success Me before You. She was also voted Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire in 2015.
In November 2016 she was confirmed as part of the Han Solo movie's cast, although no details have been released about the type of role she has.

      Woody Harrelson

Han Solo's mentor will be played by Woody Harrelson, who should be a stranger to nobody with his impressive list of acting credits since the 1980s which include Zombieland, The Hunger Games, and Now You See Me. His first role was as the bartender in the classic television comedy Cheers.
Outside of acting, he is a vegan, environmentalist, and also considers himself an anarchist.
He was confirmed for the Han Solo movie in early January 2017, and has said in interviews that his character will be a criminal as well as Han Solo's mentor.
    • Last Shot

Star Wars: Last Shot is a novel featuring Han Solo and Lando Calrissian.
The events of the novel occur in multiple time periods, including between the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story and A New Hope. Part of the novel happens after Return of the Jedi, in which a young Ben Solo is said to appear.
