Roethlisberger 0 Posted September 9, 2004 Bob Marley - Redemption Song From the album "Legend" Old pirates, yes, they rob I; Sold I to the merchant ships, Minutes after they took I From the bottomless pit. But my hand was made strong By the 'and of the Almighty. We forward in this generation Triumphantly. Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? - 'Cause all I ever have: Redemption songs; Redemption songs. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds. Have no fear for atomic energy, 'Cause none of them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets, While we stand aside and look? Ooh! Some say it's just a part of it: We've got to fulfil de book. Roethlisberger 0 Posted September 14, 2004 (edited) Bob Dylan - Ballad Of A Thin Man From the album "Highway 61 Revisited" You walk into the room with your pencil in your hand You see somebody naked and you say, "Who is that man?" You try so hard but you don't understand Just what you will say when you get home Because something is happening here but you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? You raise up your head and you ask, "Is this where it is?" And somebody points to you and says, "It's his" And you say, "What's mine?" and somebody else says, "Well, what is?" And you say, "Oh my God, am I here all alone?" But something is happening and you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? You hand in your ticket and you go watch the geek Who immediately walks up to you when he hears you speak And says, "How does it feel to be such a freak?" And you say, "Impossible!" as he hands you a bone And something is happening here but you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? You have many contacts among the lumberjacks To get you facts when someone attacks your imagination But nobody has any respect, anyway they already expect you to all give a check To tax-deductible charity organizations Ah, you've been with the professors and they've all liked your looks With great lawyers you have discussed lepers and crooks You've been through all of F. Scott Fitzgerald's books You're very well-read, it's well-known But something is happening here and you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you and then he kneels He crosses himself and then he clicks his high heels And without further notice, he asks you how it feels And he says, "Here is your throat back, thanks for the loan" And you know something is happening but you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? Now, you see this one-eyed midget shouting the word "Now" And you say, "For what reason?" and he says, "How" And you say, "What does this mean?" and he screams back, "You're a cow! Give me some milk or else go home" And you know something's happening but you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? Well, you walk into the room like a camel, and then you frown You put your eyes in your pocket and your nose on the ground There ought to be a law against you comin' around You should be made to wear earphones 'Cause something is happening and you don't know what it is Do you, Mr. Jones? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone From the album "Highway 61 Revisited" Once upon a time you dressed so fine Threw bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People called said beware doll, you're bound to fall You thought they were all kidding you You used to laugh about People who were hanging out Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging your next meal How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, without a home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone You've gone to the finest schools, alright miss lonely but you know you only used to get juiced in it Nobody's ever taught you how to live out on the street And now you're gonna have to get used to it You say you never compromise With the mystery tramp, but now you realize He's not selling any alibies As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes And say do you want to make a deal? How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, without a home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Oh, you never turned around to see the frowns On the jumpers and the clowns when they did their tricks for you You never understood that it ain't no good You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you You used to ride on your chrome horse with your diplomat Who carried on his shoulder a siamese cat Ain't it hard when you discovered that He really wasn't where it's at After he took from you everything he could steal How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, without a home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Princess on a steeple and all the pretty people They're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made Exchanging all precious gifts You better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe You used to be so amused At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used Go to him he calls you, you can't refuse When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to loose You're invisible now, you've got not secret to conceal How does it feel, how does it feel? To be on your own, without a home Like a complete unknown, like a rolling stone Edited September 14, 2004 by Mr Mojo Risin
Chickenman 9 Posted September 16, 2004 (edited) I'm trying to figure out what my next CD purchase will be. But I can't find one I really want. I've been on Barnes and Noble.com all afternoon listening to short, 20 second samples, and not much is interesting me. Not only do I have to find something I like, but I need to find something my parents won't object to. They don't exactly listen to my music, but whenever I'm listening to Linkin Park my dad gives me a dirty look. I was thinking maybe Yellowcard, but their CD is kind of pop oriented...mostly because they wanted to apeal to the TRL fans. Idiots. I just can't find any good rock music. Edit: I originally said "alternative" rock music, since the best local station does alt rock, and has defined my musical tastes. After running a search on Barnes and Noble.com on alternative rock, and it coming up with "Elephunk" the new Black Eyed Peas Album... Chickenman 9 Posted September 16, 2004 nvm....the samples suck. I just listened to the "Down with the Sickness" sample, and it didn't have the chorus, which is the best part of the song. They didn't have the best part of "All my Life" either. I've determined these samples are delibratly misleading. I'm hungry.
CorSec 5 Posted September 16, 2004 I listen to the 30 second or so samples from mtv.com to get a moderate idea of some of the songs I want on burnded CD's. I haven't really been mislead yet, but I'm keeping to established bands that I'm interested in anyway just to be sure.

Mara 29 Posted September 17, 2004 (edited) So....this song has been stuck in my head all day, lol... Frankie Valli Can't Take My Eyes Off You You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you. You'd be like Heaven to touch. I wanna hold you so much. At long last love has arrived And I thank God I'm alive. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you. Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothing else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to speak, But if you feel like I feel, Please let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you. I love you, baby, And if it's quite alright, I need you, baby, To warm a lonely night. I love you, baby. Trust in me when I say: Oh, pretty baby, Don't bring me down, I pray. Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay And let me love you, baby. Let me love you. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you. You'd be like Heaven to touch. I wanna hold you so much. At long last love has arrived And I thank God I'm alive. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off you. I love you, baby, And if it's quite alright, I need you, baby, To warm a lonely night. I love you, baby. Trust in me when I say: Oh, pretty baby, Don't bring me down, I pray. Roethlisberger 0 Posted September 17, 2004 Chicken, you must buy Nevermind, by Nirvana, now. Unless you already have it, in which case you should get London Calling by the Clash. Now on to another CD you should get: Derek and the Dominos - Layla From the album "Layla and other Assorted Love Songs" What'll you do when you get lonely And nobody's waiting by your side? You've been running and hiding much too long. You know it's just your foolish pride. Layla, you've got me on my knees. Layla, I'm begging, darling please. Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind. I tried to give you consolation When your old man had let you down. Like a fool, I fell in love with you, Turned my whole world upside down. Layla, you've got me on my knees. Layla, I'm begging, darling please. Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind. Let's make the best of the situation Before I finally go insane. Please don't say we'll never find a way And tell me all my love's in vain. Layla, you've got me on my knees. Layla, I'm begging, darling please. Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind. Layla, you've got me on my knees. Layla, I'm begging, darling please. Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind. *piano part* ------------------------------------------------------------------- Derek and the Dominos - Bell Bottom Blues From the album "Layla and other Assorted Love Songs" Bell bottom blues, you made me cry. I don't want to lose this feeling. And if I could choose a place to die It would be in your arms. Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back? I'd gladly do it because I don't want to fade away. Give me one more day, please. I don't want to fade away. In your heart I want to stay. It's all wrong, but it's all right. The way that you treat me baby. Once I was strong but I lost the fight. You won't find a better loser. Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back? I'd gladly do it because I don't want to fade away. Give me one more day, please. I don't want to fade away. In your heart I want to stay. Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back? I'd gladly do it because I don't want to fade away. Give me one more day, please. I don't want to fade away. In your heart I want to stay. Bell bottom blues, don't say goodbye. I'm sure we're gonna meet again, And if we do, don't you be surprised If you find me with another lover. Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back? I'd gladly do it because I don't want to fade away. Give me one more day, please. I don't want to fade away. In your heart I want to stay. I don't want to fade away. Give me one more day please. I don't want to fade away. In your heart I long to stay. CorSec 5 Posted September 20, 2004 Just grabbed myself a burnded Pink Floyd Greatest Hits CD of my own design. High Hopes ~Pink Floyd Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway Do they still meet there by the Cut There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps Running before times took our dreams away Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground To a life consumed by slow decay The grass was greener The light was brighter When friends surrounded The nights of wonder Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again Dragged by the force of some sleeping tide At a higher altitude with flag unfurled We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world Encumbered forever by desire and ambition There's a hunger still unsatisfied Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon Though down this road we've been so many times The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever

Roethlisberger 0 Posted September 21, 2004 Elvis Costello - (What's So Funny) About Peace, Love And Understanding From the album "Armed Forces" As I walk through this wicked world Searching for light in the darkness of insanity I ask myself, is all hope lost? Is there only pain and hatred and misery? And each time I feel like this inside There's one thing I want to know Oh, what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding? And as I walk on through troubled times My spirit gets so down-hearted sometimes So where are the strong? And who are the trusted And where is that harmony (sweet harmony) 'Cause each time I feel it slipping away Just makes me want to cry What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding? Oh, what's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding? So where are the strong? And who are the trusted? And where is that harmony? Tsl 7 Posted September 21, 2004 Marble Halls Enya I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls With vassals and serfs at my side, And of all who assembled within those walls That I was the hope and the pride. I had riches all too great to count And a high ancestral name. But I also dreamt which pleased me most That you loved me still the same, That you loved me You loved me still the same, That you loved me You loved me still the same. I dreamt that suitors sought my hand, That knights upon bended knee And with vows no maidens heart could withstand, They pledged their faith to me. And I dreamt that one of that noble host Came forth my hand to claim. But I also dreamt which charmed me most That you loved me still the same That you loved me You loved me still the same, That you loved me You loved me still the same. Roethlisberger 0 Posted September 23, 2004 Pink Floyd - Time From the album "The Dark Side Of The Moon" Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way. Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain. You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time. Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, Thought I'd something more to say. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pink Floyd - Money From the album "The Dark Side Of The Moon" Money, get away. Get a good job with good pay and you're okay. Money, it's a gas. Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash. New car, caviar, four star daydream, Think I'll buy me a football team. Money, get back. I'm all right Jack keep your hands off of my stack. Money, it's a hit. Don't give me that do goody good bulls***. I'm in the high-fidelity first class traveling set And I think I need a Lear jet. Money, it's a crime. Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie. Money, so they say Is the root of all evil today. But if you ask for a raise it's no surprise that they're giving none away. "HuHuh! I was in the right!" "Yes, absolutely in the right!" "I certainly was in the right!" "You was definitely in the right. That geezer was cruising for a bruising!" "Yeah!" "Why does anyone do anything?" "I don't know, I was really drunk at the time!" "I was just telling him, he couldn't get into number 2. He was asking why he wasn't coming up on freely, after I was yelling and screaming and telling him why he wasn't coming up on freely. It came as a heavy blow, but we sorted the matter out" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here From the album "Wish You Were Here" So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here. Ender 8 Posted September 23, 2004 All Around The World by Oasis From the album "Be Here Now" It's a bit early in the midnight hour for me To go through all the things that I want to be I don't believe in everything I see You know I'm blind so why d'you disagree? (Bridge) So take me away cos I just don't want to stay And the lies you make me say Are getting deeper everyday These are crazy days but they make me shine Time keeps rolling by (Chorus) All around the world, you've got to spread the word Tell them what you heard We're gonna make a better day All around the world, you've gotta spread the word Tell them what you heard You know it's gonna be o.k. So what you gonna do when the walls come falling down? You never move you never make a sound So where you gonna swim with the riches that you found? If you're lost at sea, well I hope that you drown I Hope, I Think, I Know by Oasis From the album "Be Here Now" They're trying hard to put me in my place And that is why I've gotta keep running The future is mine and it's no disgrace Cos in the end the past means nothing You tell me I'm free then you tie me down And from my chains I think it's a pity What did it cost you to wear my crown You dont like me why don't you admit it D'you feel a little down today? Bet you ain't got much to say? But your gonna miss me when I'm not there You know I dont care, You know I dont care As we beg and steal and borrow Life is hit and miss and this I Hope, I Think, I Know And if I hear the names you call If I stumble catch me when I fall Cos baby after all, You'll never forget my name
