Chickenman 9 Posted June 4, 2004 Bush presented the pontiff with a medal, calling the pope "a devoted servant of God." Pope? Servant of God? No way!
Tsl 7 Posted June 4, 2004 *As Rockford is being forced out of a motel room at gunpoint, he spots two men walking ahead of him and walks up, puts his arms around their shoulders, and starts talking to them, waiting for the right moment to run away (and have witnesses and all that).* Rockford: *turning to the gunmen* Let me introduce you to my friends! This is Miles Kealy, you may have heard of him. Notorious con man, armored car bandit. And this is his friend, Nate somethingrather. He likes to go around pretending he's with the police department. The gunmen: Er...hi. The other guys: Er...pleased to meet you. *Rockford then, after a bit more chitchat shoves his way in front of the two men and runs for his car. A high speed chase ensues (of course).* :D
Roethlisberger 0 Posted June 4, 2004 Marge: Grandpa, I'm not afraid! Grandpa: Then you're not paying enough attention!
Chickenman 9 Posted June 5, 2004 (edited) Bush presented the pontiff with a medal, calling the pope "a devoted servant of God." Pope? Servant of God? No way! He also gave the pope the highest civilian medal the country has. Nevermind that he isn't a U.S. citizen. He's probably kissing up to the pope because the pope was against the War in Iraq. Of course, I haven't read the rest of the article. :p Edited June 5, 2004 by Nut in a Navy Hat
CorSec 5 Posted June 5, 2004 Simpsons: Lisa: C'mon, let's give Grandpa a chance. Studies show that seniors can drive at least as well as sleep-deprived apes!

Ana 15 Posted June 6, 2004 (edited) This quote is rather disturbing: "Michael Jackson fans will win the court battle that opposes his being awakened from his century-long sleep in a hyperbaric preservation chamber on what would be his one-hundred-and-fiftieth birthday, favoring instead waiting until the war is over so that Michael can live in peaceful times." -Light Raid by Connie Willis and Cynthia Felice In that case... may the war never end! ((BTW, the book was published in 1989, so that into account before you start screaming your little heads off...)) Edited June 6, 2004 by Ana
Ender 8 Posted June 6, 2004 He also gave the pope the highest civilian medal the country has. Nevermind that he isn't a U.S. citizen. He's probably kissing up to the pope because the pope was against the War in Iraq. Of course, I haven't read the rest of the article. Oh stop it. Medals from ANY country have never been exclusive to that country alone. Take George Patton for example. He got more medals from other countries than he did from the US. And that's saying something, cause he won tons of American medals. Chickenman, I'm surprised. With you being a 'war buff' as you put it, you should know that. Roethlisberger 0 Posted June 6, 2004 A host of quotes from Ronald Reagan: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" - President Reagan at the Berlin Wall, 1987. "The best view of government is seen on a rear view mirror as one is driving away from it." - Ronald Reagan "Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. Recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his." - Ronald Reagan, 1980 "I love three things in life: drama, politics and sports and I'm not sure they always come in that order." - Ronald Reagan, 1964 "I remember some of my own views when I was quite young. For heaven's sake, I was even a Democrat!" - 1980 "Honey, I forgot to duck." - to his wife after the assasination attempt "I hope all of you are Republicans." - to his doctors prior to going in the surgery room. "Does Nancy know about us?" - semi-consciously, to the nurse who hauled him on the gurvey. "I know what it's like to pull the Republican lever for the first time, because I used to be a Democrat myself, and I can tell you it only hurts for a minute and then it feels just great." - 1980 "I've been criticized for going over the heads of the Congress. So, what's the fuss? A lot of things go over their heads." - 1985 "America is too great to dream small dreams." - Ronald Reagan "I now begin the journey that will lead me to the sunset of my life. I know that for America, there will always be a bright dawn ahead." -from the Alzheimer's letter. "Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book." "You can tell a lot about a fellow's character by his way of eating jellybeans." "Government is not the solution to our problems. Government IS the problem!" "Now, I understand my opponent has been using age as an issue. However, I'll refrain from using his youth and inexperience against him." - said in a debate in 1984 in reference to Walter Mondale "All the waste in a year from a nuclear power plant can be stored under a desk." "I have a feeling that we are doing better in the war than the people have been told." Reagan on Vietnam. "You may think this a little mystical, and I've said it many times before, but I believe there was a Divine Plan to place this great continent here between the two oceans to be found by peoples from every corner of the earth. I believe we were preordained to carry the torch of freedom for the world." [Carmel, CA, June 1990] "I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency - even if I'm in a Cabinet meeting." "My fellow Americans. I'm pleased to announce that I've signed legislation outlawing the Soviet Union. We begin bombing in five minutes." (a joke) "Trees cause more pollution than automobiles." "They say hard work never hurt anybody, but I figure why take the chance." "Well, I learned a lot....I went down to Latin America to find out from them and (learn) their views. You'd be surprised. They're all individual countries." "We are trying to get unemployment to go up, and I think we're going to succeed." "When I go in for a physical, they no longer ask how old I am. They just carbon-date me."

I apologize. And the thing about being a war buff, I really just kind of started and havn't read all that many books.
Bad furday 57 Posted June 6, 2004 Bush presented the pontiff with a medal, calling the pope "a devoted servant of God." Later, the pontiff pointed at Bush and said, "That nice young man gave me this shiney medal!" and smiled, forgetting that he had neglected to put in his false teeth that morning.
