Pandora 77 Posted July 2, 2004 FDR's plan to freeze wages and prices to fight inflation was the National Industrial Recovery Act. And I believe that was ruled unconstitutional.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted July 2, 2004 A lot of things he did were unconstitutional :p
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted July 2, 2004 like the theory he knew the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor and did nothing to stop it. load of crap if you ask me.
Bushy 0 Posted July 2, 2004 Well I didn't ask you, but you're right. No sane person would do that...
Ender 8 Posted July 3, 2004 General Patton knew the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor... no one listened to him though.
chozen 1 Posted July 3, 2004 Funny how the 3 most important craft in the US fleet were on excersise.
Andy 60 Posted July 3, 2004 Plus it's common sense not to keep all your most important resources in the same place, really.

Drake 53 Posted July 3, 2004 General Patton knew the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor... no one listened to him though. As opposed to the title of the thread, that was some helpful information that could've saved many lives.
chozen 1 Posted July 3, 2004 Plus it's common sense not to keep all your most important resources in the same place, really. It's a naval shipyard beeurd. Where else can they put them? In the Atlantic?
GI_Admiral 2 Posted July 3, 2004 Actually the most important part of the fleet ((Aircraft Carriers)) was away during Pearl Harbor.

chozen 1 Posted July 3, 2004 lol.. well then, there was no evidence to back it up. He was just speculating.
Bushy 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Patton was a brilliant man. Crazy, but brilliant. The fact that he thought he was a roman legionare reincarnated probably had something to do with why nobody listened to him...
Andy 60 Posted July 4, 2004 Plus it's common sense not to keep all your most important resources in the same place, really. It's a naval shipyard beeurd. Where else can they put them? In the Atlantic? I'm sure they had more than one shipyard.
Chickenman 9 Posted July 4, 2004 Beeurd-Pearl Harbor is where we were keeping most of our ships. Not only that, but it was in the middle of the Pacific. We had withdrawn support to the Japanese and given more to the Chinese...so we should have seen something.
Bushy 0 Posted July 4, 2004 (edited) I personally don't see anything wrong with keeping a lot of assets in one location. Spreading yourself out is a bad thing, as Hitler illustrated in his European conquest. As long as you defend yourself well, keeping a bunch of ships in one shipyard is not a problem. But, obviously, the defense at Pearl Harbor was lacking, to say the least... The most obvious means of attack by anyone would be an airborne attack. Ships move too slow and would be picked up by radar and sonar instantly. Planes however are smaller, can cover greater distances in less time, etc. They should have had beefed-up anti-air defense, especially since they knew the Japanese were already trying to take over Aisa... But instead, they were all sleeping in on a Sunday morning... Ah well. War had already begun over there, and the US was already "unofficially" assisting the Chinese. GI_Admiral 2 Posted July 4, 2004 Janson Choz is right. I could say "hmmm middle east is a hotspot...I think [Middle Eastern Country #1] will attack [Middle Eastern Country #2]" and if it happens years later it isn't exactly that I knew it...just that I speculated that it would happen.
