Mickey 1 Posted August 23, 2004 Napolean Dynamite: A- A little boring at times, but contained some of the greatest random humour and lines that will be quoted by myself for quite some time. The characters and acting was superb as well. "I caught you a delicious bass" -Napolean

Tsl 7 Posted August 23, 2004 Fear : C This is a psycho stalker boyfriend movie staring Reese Witherspoon as the stalkee and Mark Wahlberg as the stalker. It's your typical creepy stalker movie. Young girl falls for handsome, perfect boyfriend, boyfriend is slowly revealed to be creepy but girl doesn't see it, dad tries to break them up, stalker boy gets creepier, girl finally figures it out and breaks it off, stalker guy does his thang. Then it gets whacked up though. Creepy stalker boy attacks dad's car while dad is at work and then goes off to assault the girl in a bathroom. Okay.....that makes sense. So then the dad, being unable to reach the girl at home (because she's at the mall being assaulted, lol) goes to the boy's house where he lives with three other creepy guys and, upon finding a shrine to his daughter complete with lacy panties, trashes the house. So then he goes home, everybody's happy. And then the four guys come to exact revenge. Now we have a long, almost comical sequence involving the four guys attempting to break into the house. They use power drills, axes, even a frickin' battering ram... Yeah. At one point, the mom uses a drill to drill through the hand of one of the guys as he reaches in through a hole in the front door So, in all, it was a pretty good, creepy stalker guy movie, until you get to the retarded break in scene, hence the C. Drake 53 Posted August 23, 2004 You can't have a complete shrine to your stalkee unless you have a pair of their panties. I mean... Uhh... *runs*

Drake 53 Posted August 29, 2004 Hero: A++ I saw this movie on Friday and was truely awe inspired. The entire movie is basically Jet Li's character (Nameless) retelling the events of how he killed three assassins to the King of Qin (one of the 7 warring Chinese states). They share their different ideas of how the story goes until finally the truth is revealed. For those who confuse easily, they've colour-coded the character's costumes for each time they have a retelling of the story. There's red, blue, green, black and white. The martial arts alone were worth seeing the movie over. For those of you who didn't like the fanciful flying moves from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, don't worry because there's only one scene where there's a lot of it, lol. It's a great film. I definately recommend seeing it...right NOW.

Roethlisberger 0 Posted October 9, 2004 (edited) Elvis Costello ? This Year?s Model: This Year?s Model was Costello?s second album This Year?s Model, released back in 1978. In 1977, Elvis?s debut, My Aim is True, was the top selling import of the year and the first new wave album to hit the Top 50. Thus, in 1978, he was Last Year?s Model. This Year?s Model sets out to prove that Elvis wasn?t just Last Year?s Model, but was here to stay. This Year?s Model not only proves Elvis?s point, but improves on his debut. This Year?s Model is one of the classic albums of all time. In an era when popular music was dominated by Disco, the best alternatives to Disco were Punk and New Wave. Elvis Costello walked the line between the two. This Year?s Model is a Punk album that sounds like a New Wave album. The album has songs with angry Punkish lyrics such as ?I wanna bite the hand that feeds me,? as well as songs that are as fast as any Ramones song, while still keeping the synthesizer driven sound that defines New Wave. This Year?s Model is Costello?s second album and his first album with the Attractions as his back up band. The Attractions are arguably the best back up band of all time. They are Steve Nieve (keyboards), Pete Thomas (drums), and Bruce Thomas, who isn?t related to Pete (bass). The Attractions stand out behind Elvis, even though their style is never flashy. Pete Thomas and Nieve are great at their instruments and are absolutely perfect in this album. The standout player in the Attractions is Bruce Thomas, a great (and incredibly underrated) bass player. Bruce?s bass lines are always fighting with Costello?s voice for the melodic focus of the album and wins occasionally (see ?Pump it Up?). However, the real star of the show is the Angry Little Man With Glasses, himself. Costello?s songwriting is unrivaled, in terms of lyrics, in his era. The lyrics are very clever and entertaining, filled with puns, sarcasm and creative metaphor. Elvis manages to cram a few quotable lyrics into each of his songs, fast or slow, without taking away from the music. That?s something that Dylan couldn?t even do at times. Elvis also has one of the greatest voices in Rock history. His voice is not pitch perfect or beautiful, but it perfectly matches what he is trying to say. His voice is actually fun to listen to. The songs on This Year?s Model are all classics. ?Radio, Radio,? a sarcastic rant on modern radio, is the most lyrically brilliant, with sarcastic lines like ?They say you better listen to the voice of reason/but they don?t give you any choice ?cause they think that it?s treason.? ?Radio, Radio? is a perfect example of his fusion of Punk and New Wave. ?No Action,? the opening track, is the best Punk song on the album, featuring a chorus that goes ?There?s no action!/Every time I phone you I just wanna put you down!? ?Pump it Up,? Costello?s anti drug song and Bruce Thomas?s showcase on bass, is musically the best track on the album. ?Pump it Up? was recently used in a promo for the upcoming movie Shark Tale. ?Living in Paradise? is Steve Nieve?s showcase and has one of Costello?s best lyrics (?You?re already searching for another fool like me?). The best all around song on This Year?s Model is ?(I Don?t Want to Go to) Chelsea.? ?(I Don?t Want to Go to) Chelsea? is Elvis?s best example of his crusade against beauty and success (Chelsea being a chic London neighborhood, but also Elvis?s nightmare world of success where Last Year?s Model is forgotten with the previous year). It?s lyrically and musically brilliant. The bass line on ?Chelsea? is almost as memorable as ?Pump it Up? and the chorus (including the line ?They call her Natasha when she looks like Elsie/ I don?t want to go to Chelsea?) is as good as any in Costello?s canon. All the members of the Attractions showcase their talents at the same time and it works beautifully. The song is a punk song, but with more than 3 chords and without yelling. It?s also the song that best represents the whole purpose of the album. This Year?s Model succeeds as a New Wave album, a Punk album, and a straight up rock album. The songs are classic and incredibly catchy. You listen to the album once and you?re instantly compelled to listen to it over and over again. The whole idea of This Year?s Model is Costello vs. the world (Another great lyric: ?Sometimes I almost feel/ just like a human being.?) Costello wins. Drake 53 Posted October 10, 2004 Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow: A I saw this movie today and thought it was very interesting. It was certainly different from what anyone is used to...unless you like watching sci-fi movies from the 40's, that is. The cinematography was very well done. The whole mix of acting, dialogue, lighting, camerawork, CG work and score gave this movie a nice, classic feel. I even think they shot the whole thing (or most of it) in black and white and then colourized it afterwards to give it that fantastic look. The plot was very different and many of the things that happened in the movie were totally unrealistic...but that was the point of it so it's all good, lol. It stars Jude Law as Joe, the Sky Captain...Gwyneth Paltrow as Polly Perkins, an ambitious reporter...and Angelina Jolie as Franky, a witty, one-eyed captain in the British Royal Air Force. Ender 8 Posted October 10, 2004 Fett, how in the hell can you give Harry Potter 3 even an honorable mention for best adapted screenplay? First of all, it barely followed the book, and two, the movie just plain sucked!
Ender 8 Posted October 10, 2004 Ender's Best Albums So Far in 2004 1. Oasis- Definitely Maybe Oasis has done it again. They have released a DVD/CD combo of their first bestselling album, Definitely Maybe. The sound is incredible, and the songs being played live on the DVD are just great. 2. O.A.R.: 34th and 8th. 34th and 8th is O.A.R.'s newest, and it is probably their best yet. I'm probably just biased because I love live albums, but this one was just incredible. Finally, Jerry DePizzo, O.A.R.'s incredible saxophone player, gets the recognition he deserves! His solos are probably my favorite part of this album. 3. Great Big Sea: Something Beautiful This Canadian/Celtic Rock group has always been one of my personal favorites, probably because I'm a sucker for good Celtic rock, but with Something Beautiful, they took it up a notch. "When I Am King" and "Sally Ann" are worth picking up the album for alone.

First of all, it barely followed the book, and two, the movie just plain sucked! That's your opinion, Ender. I don't like Oasis. I think they suck and are a Beatles/Stones rip-off who are complete Jackasses to their influencers (Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Keith Richards). You'd probably disagree. Roethlisberger 0 Posted October 10, 2004 Top Five Albums (so far): 1. Brian Wilson -SMiLE: the album that people have been waiting for for 37 years is here and it lives up to its expectations! 2. Kanye West - The College Dropout: One of the best Hip Hop albums of the year. Kanye samples everyone from The Doors to Chaka Khan here. 3. Tom Waits - Real Gone: Waits has an unbelievable talent for making the ugly seem beautiful and Waits displays the talent perfectly here. 4. Green Day - American Idiot: A Punk Rock Opera, American Idiot is the best Rock Opera since The Wall (ok, fine maybe not since The Wall. Maybe since Husker Du's Zen Arcade. 5.
