  1. Disney Store update suggests that Star Wars will not be joining Disney Infinity.Previously rumored to have been in the works, it has been suggested that Disney currently has no plans to bring Star Wars characters and worlds to its popular Disney Infinity figure-collecting gaming universe. The update came via the Disney Store's Facebook page where they stated that while there were no plans for Star Wars to join Infinity, there were still exciting things to come for gaming and collectibles fans alike. This may just be a sign that Star Wars is currently off-limits while the dust settles around the Star Wars Episode VII announcements, including the new all-encompassing single continuity that has replaced the Expanded Universe. One big new acquired franchise is coming to Infinity however, as it was recently announced that Marvel characters would be introduced into Disney Infinity 2.0, a backwards compatible upgraded version of the game which will debut on all consoles used by the previous version plus Xbox One and PS4 later this year. Games developer BioWare has revealed plans for two new expansions for it's massively multiplayer online RPG Star Wars: The Old Republic in 2014.Senior Producer Bruce Maclean told players that they can expect to see two digital expansions to be released in 2014, which will be similar to last years Galactic Starfighter and Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansions. This is all part of plans to attract new players; The Old Republic, which reportedly cost $200 million to develop, moved to a free-to-play model with micropayments after failing to build a large enough player base to sustain a subscription model. 4. Despite recently announcing lay-offs from Disney Interactive Studios, Disney is reportedly pushing ahead with plans to release Disney Infinity toys for both the Star Wars and Marvel franchises. For those who have not played Disney Infinity, the game requires an "infinity base" connected to your console, on to which you place collectible toys and power "discs" that tell the game what to do, and drops your chosen character in an open world of missions to complete how you want. There are already a multitude of sets to chose from, including Toy Story, Pirates of the Caribbean, Nightmare Before Christmas, and many more. Infinity received mostly positive praise from critics, and has sold more than three million starter packs since it was released last year. The addition of Star Wars and Marvel will undoubtedly provide a hefty sales boost to an already popular product.

  10. In case you were still clinging to the tattered remains of your hopes for Star Wars 1313, once one of LucasArts' most anticipated games, allow me to dash those hopes.According to the US Patent and Trademark Office website, the trademark for Star Wars 1313 has now lapsed after Disney failed to renew the mark. Allowing trademarks to expire is highly uncharacteristic of the Disney empire, and thus we can only assume the worst. Even after Disney took control of LucasArts and laid waste to the staff roster we held on to hope that development would be resumed once restructuring was complete. And when Electronic Arts was granted the licence to develop games for the franchise, did we falter? No! Well, some of us sure did, but there was still a glimmer of hope that all the effort that had already gone in to 1313 would not be left to rot. Now it seems the final nail has been driven into 1313's coffin. RIP Star Wars 1313; gone but not forgotten. Click here to view the article

    Star Wars: Attack Squadrons revealed

The game, which looks as though it will have a similar feel to the Rogue Squadron series of games, will feature multiplayer battles with up to 16 players and allow players to take control of and even customise iconic starfighters of the galaxy. The developer, newcomers Area 52 Games, say that multiplayer battles rather than story driven missions will make up the majority of gameplay, and that the game will have a free-to-play model, which suggests that micro-transactions will likely be included in the game. Check out the announcement trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elZg1wSUpD0 Beta testing is due to start in 2014, don't forget to sign up!

  14. Star Wars gaming licence holders EA have begun recruiting for an as yet unnamed Star Wars project. The games giant is currently looking for two Executive Producers and a Senior Environment Artist based in California and British Columbia. Both of these locations are home to EA subsidiary developer Visceral, most well known for their Dead Space series of video games. The advertised job titles seem to suggest that this is a project in its very early stages, but it could always be possible that they are picking up development from a previous title or making a sequel to a preexisting Star Wars games series. All clues seen thus far are that this will be a 'HD console title', so it is likely that this will be heading to Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Click here to view the article

  16. So far the only confirmed game in development is DICE's next installment in the Star Wars: Battlefront series, with development and support continuing as planned for the MMO The Old Republic. EAs chief financial officer, Blake Jorgenson, insists that they do not plan on simply creating games based on the movies and will continue to delve into and add to the rich diversity of the expanded universe. BioWare, original developers of the Knights of the Old Republic series, and Dead Space developer Visceral have also been mentioned in connection to future Star Wars titles. Unfortunately, however, there has still been no sign of a revival of the eagerly anticipated 1313 project.
  17. DC Universe Online is an MMORPG that puts you right in the middle of the action. Brainiac has his sights on Earth yet again. You have been granted powers thanks to exobytes stolen from Brainiac by Lex Luthor and released into Earth's atmosphere. Choose your powerset, your weapons, and your mentor. Work alongside your favorite DC characters in missions spread between Gotham, Metropolis, and the Watchtower/Hall of Doom. Will you be a hero and save the world, or a villain to rule it? Anyone else playing? It went free to play in November 2011 for PS3 and PC. Word is it will be on PS4 as well. Of course all the expansion packs and cool gear you have to pay for, lol. I started a file back when it first came out then got lost on the Watchtower and gave up. I recently started playing it again and I'm having a blast as a Tech Hero. The sound is glitchy as all get out, though. Sometimes battle noises and chatter will drop out completely and you just have the ambient noises. Sometimes its the other way around. Normally it doesn't bother me when that happens, but there are a few quests I need to have audio.
