My fish tank is leaking. I can't get silicone for it because the stores are closed. Once I do get the silicone I have to find someplace to put my fish for 3 days while it seals. Someplace where they won't die, hopefully. Plus, my tank is too heavy for me to lift even completely emptied, so....

*stuffs more paper towels around the base of the tank*

Turns out we had an extra 30 gallon in teh shed, so I switched mine out with that one. Unfortunately, this simple, yet time consuming act became an even more time consuming, all day shed cleaning event. :(

Don't complain about me calling a code. Don't give me crap about maintaining the airway, ABC's. Bite me! If chest compressions are needed, I'm calling a freaking code no matter the reason for the arrest. I'm not stopping bagging and compressions to change the trach on a child with Sp02 of 10% and heart rate in the 40's, that's idiotic.

You know it's hopeless when the attending doctor wants to send a chronic kid up to PICU and tube her just because her sat dropped briefly to 80%. This is a child that has been on the oscillator like 3 times, for God's sake, get a grip, woman!

I talked to the HUC from hell tonight. She was such a bith. First off she wouldn't take any values herself, she had to find the nurse for that patient. Hello, you're the unit clerk, that's your job is to take those kind of phone calls. Now, when I call you to give you a blood culture report, don't give me an attitude because my computer screen shows that he's still on your unit even though. Don't give me an attitude because my screen isn't as updated. Just tell me where the patient is and be nice to me. I didn't have an attitude with you. bith.

Well we have some really awesome HUCs like Esther and Hannah but then there's the bithes like that and the ones that you can tell aren't writing anything down. My favorite was last week when I called a blood culture and hung up and got called back and asked the patient's name again. Then got called back again and asked what was growing. But all the nursing stations have critical report forms that make taking a critical very simple.

But it's really easy. They take the name of the person that calls, the test, and the value.. And the only results we call are positive blood culture gram stains and positive spinal fluid gram stains. Or if someone has VRE in their diarrhea and needs to be put in isolation

Omg. I think I have only two real friends who like me just the way I am-and one is a guy I've known forever.

My best friend (whose a bit gothic-punk) just informed me (after I finally it out of her) that she doesn't really like the fact that I've changed. Last year I was skater-punk...and this year I'm dressin preppy.

And I'm never called by anyone, except for homework. A total of four people say hi to me in the halls. Quite a record, eh?

I never get invited over to anyone's house or party or anything. No one ever calls except for homework quesitons. I'm pretty much ignored, an outcast, freak or whatever you want to call it.

I'm so paranoid now, I ask my "friends" everything. "Can I sit here?" "Can I hang out with you?" Stuff like that.

Even if I write I notes now, I'll apologize. I actually wrote "I'm sorry if you didn't want me to write you a note or bother you"!

I'm this paranoid with my friends now. I want to be accepted. And I don't think they even know me at times. They only think of me as this shy, Star Wars loving-"I can't wait till I turn 14 so I can join a volunteer fire company" girl. Oh, and that I love to read. Can't forget that.

I wonder how surprised they'd be if they knew I subrscribed to Teen Vogue (Also a Teen Vogue ItGirl and Dior Diva-yeah, stupid names but I get free stuff), I buy Seventeen every month and I read ElleGirl. But like they'd ever talk about fashion with me...

Er....why do you care if they approve of your attire and reading material? Reading Seventeen magazine doesn't make you cool or mature.

If your friends are that shallow, then they need a serious reality check. Stop being apologetic and if they can't handle you, then screw 'em. Find some people who aren't complete morons to hang out with.
