Parents can never let children grow up. I'm 21 but they seem to think I'm still 12 or something.

All I want to do is see SW: ROTS at midnight. The first showing. My dad reminded me that he can't go then because it's too late. I understand that. I said he and my sis and I could go later all together (it's an informal tradition type thing. I want to the other five movies with them too).

But since this the last movie ever for Star Wars, and 'cause I'm a geek, I'd really like to see it at the midnight showing. (I never see movies then, ROTK was the first movie I ever saw at the midnight showing).

So I was just asking how many tickets to buy online and which theater, and such. Then it got all "well, how are you going to go?" and etc. We've had this discussion once before. Basically, he doesn't want me driving back home at 4 in the morning. This confuses me. I'm an adult. Why can't I drive home (the theater is only 20 freakin' minutes away) at 4am?

It shouldn't be that much of a problem. My last final is on the morning of the 17th. I can move home that night, or even the next day. So, I can sleep in the day of the movie (it's Weds night/Thurs morning right?). So falling asleep wouldn't be a problem. I'll even sit in the parking for a while to let it clear out before I leave, so traffic jams wouldn't be a problem either.

I don't see the problem.

Anyway, to make it worse.. Apparently my sister made plans "awhile ago" to go with her friends at the midnight showing. What happened to seeing it with me? Her friends probably aren't more than rudimentary SW fans anyway. Why see it at midnight? Whatever.

So, I mentioned something about buying some for her and her friend, and being able to ride with them, if he doesn't want me driving home at 4am. Well, then he added that he wasn't sure if he'd let my sister go that late anyway, driving home with someone who hasn't got sleep since that morning (they still have school).

So like....I'm completely freakin' stuck here.

I'm almost tempted to just buy a ticket for myself. Or maybe two more for my sister and her friend. But they're in D.C. this week, so I can't even talk to them about what theater or time they were thinking of.

Ugh.

Just let me freakin' grow up.

They keep mentioning how it's getting close to being to the real world and graduation and such and that reality will hit me soon. And I think I'm a pretty responsible person.

I just want to see ONE little movie. Just a movie. That's all.

I've given up on going to C3, another geeky weakness. That's fine with me. I couldn't swing it anyway.

And this is my last chance to be all in my SW fandom glory. It's the last one, the big finale. My last big bang.

But noooooo......

It's all ruined.

I wish my only problem was deciding which theater and time to go.

I'd like to go to this one theater whose Theater One has one of the largest screens in the state (besides IMAX). But they don't have listings online yet.

I could go to another one, owned by the same company and they have a listing for theater one, but I dunno if that one is bigger like the other one. But the earliest time is 12:15.

So I guess my best bet is the one in the mall, which has times at 12:01 and 12:02.

I dunno.

I'll just have to keep trying. But then I'm reminded of "do or do not, there is no try."

And I have a bad feeling that I'll have to be closer to "do not" than "do."
