Supply problems?

Oh, yes. Finding a store with gas is hell. I had to stay out of work/school because I didn't have enough gas to get there and back. And it's only happening in the Metro Atlanta area. The rest of the state, country, region isn't having this problem so much, from what I hear.

our supply seems to be ok. the prices didn't jump when crude oil did on the market like it usually does. i'm surprised we aren't having supply issues with the recent hurricane and now i heard there was a fire at one of the refineries. hope it gets better soon, Unknown.

Damn this cough. It's beginning to get cooler. It's that time of year when you burn up during the day and freeze and night. I normally get sick with a cold. You know, nasal congestion and sore throat, utlimately ending with a cough that doesn't let up for two weeks. Well, I've just gotten a cough. No sore throat. No nasal congestion. My throat and chest are constantly tingling. Before, I was coughing up phlem. Now, it's a croop (sp?) cough. And oftentimes, it's what I call a compound cough where I'm not done with one cough before I'm starting on another. The past two nights, I've woken up coughing so bad I couldn't breath. One time, it was so bad it literally made me throw up.

i've been having similar issues. change in season + cut grass + new puppy = many sniffles, itchy eyes and coughs. and the medicine i used to take isn't available anymore. hope you feel better soon.

which reminds me........dang meth dealers that force me to get my pseudophedren drugs at the pharmacy counter and be up a creek when they don't work and i need something different. i used to take Drixoral when the allergies got really bad, and it worked wonders. yeah, it made me pretty loopy for the day, but at least i could breathe and i didn't claw out my itchy eyes. i finally ran out the other day and went to both WalMart and Walgreens to get more. WalMart said they didn't carry it, which i kinda expected, and the Walgreens pharmasist said it was no longer being made. WTF?! Claritin and Sudafed don't work for me at all, so, i ask what the next best thing is and ended up with Allavert-D. guess what? it doesn't work either. eyes still itch, still can't breathe through my nose. i'm screwed. i can't go get something else yet because OMG, SHE'S MAKING METH!!!!1!ELEVENTY! maybe in a year or so, i'll see if they have Allegra. that one worked for awhile.

The Recovery mode on the Windows XP disk is so unhelpful. Luckily I could use my PS3s web browser to go to the Windows help centre to find out how to get my computer to start up after the registry randomly decided to corrupt.

I got this e-mail at work about a bone marrow drive for a student:

There is a $25 cost per Caucasian person that wishes to be tested. Minorities are free due to the need of different ethnic groups in the database and registry. For every Minority person tested, a Caucasian person will be tested for free.

That's a great way to get people interested. It's hard enough to get people to donate blood at no cost.

By the way, how do you donate bone marrow? Is it the same as giving blood?

Uh, that sounds kinda shady to me. All they do to test you is take four oral swabs to see if your DNA matches any one in the system needing marrow. I don't understand why they would charge YOU to get tested. And while it's a really good thing (I'm registered in the system as a donor), the process is not pleasant. But, if it can save a kid, I'm all about a little pain.

What does it entail? Do they stick a needle in your bones or something?

Also, damn the server for being down. I can't access Minitab, so I have to do this math work the hard way with SAS.

A big ass needle. It has a removable center part to it. I've seen bone marrow biopsies and you have to drill through the bone because as you get older, you start making blood cells only in your hips and sternum.

Some loser on my way home from work was drink driving, and left a trail of destruction before the police managed to get him to pull over. So he gets out and leaves the handbrake off, letting car roll back into the carriageway and hitting two cars that were stuck in traffic due to a car he hit further up the road. One of them was MY car.

The car came rolling out as if it wasn't turning fast enough to join the traffic and hits the car in front then it carries on, but I have no space to get out of the way because I'm stuck in traffic, so I'm like "bollocks", and then it catches front of my car and shunts me back into the car behind me before continuing it's unguided roll down the road until it bumps up the kerb and into a wall.

So yeah, I wasn't too impressed as I had to hang around for half an hour waiting for the police to come take my details.

Luckily the only damage was a broken light, and the bumper seems to be damaged too but I'll see better in the morning when it's light.

Bad furday

A skunk let loose when we were moving things around in the storage trailer. He must have been right under the trailer, because

soon the whole loading dock stank of it. You could smell it out on the floor too, in the picture frames area, right before entering the stockroom.

Everyone covered their faces with something :p

I've seen quite a lot of flattened ones the last few days. Wandering too far from home, I suppose.

ugh. i don't feel good. i finally had to break down and take one of my precious pseudophedren pills so i could breathe sorta. now i only have two left *cry*. and today was the day i was to tackle THE CABINET. yes, our handout cabinet at work was woefully outdated and understocked (thanks a LOT, fellow coirkers), so i volunteered to fix it. yes, i did this to myself, and i know it will all be for naught since no one else seems to know how to use the printer or the copy machine to replace the handouts they use. must not have gotten my e-mail explaining how to use the printer and the copy machine.

anywho, we've stopped offering some classes and added others so new (well, recycled) folders were in order. there was a crapload of Genealogy references that i'm not sure anyone's using. but i'm guessing not judging from how many fraking copies there were. and then i went through an entire ream of paper printing out enough handouts to cover all of our classes. on top of keeping the hooligans in line and setting up for a morning class. the first time i have to restock every. single. fraking. handout. again. i'm going on a murderous rampage.

yesterday sucked too. 2:30 rolls around, and the hospital is winding down. there's one last bone scan on the table, and i'm excited that i'm going home early. then the ER calls. they've got a guy with bloody stool. great. GI bleed scans take FOREVER. first, we have to order the imaging agent, and since the pharmacy is in another state, it will be at least half and hour before it gets here. that's fine, because the prep takes about 30 minutes anyway. this is one time i was glad to be using cold PYP instead of an Ultratag kit, because the Ultratag takes 30 minutes for the reaction to tag the RBCs, and we would have been waiting on it to get there. that would make an hour of prep time instead of 30 minutes. and then we image for an hour. yes, a WHOLE HOUR. this guy, though, had such a massive bleed going on that we were able to call it done after 45 minutes. part of me is glad he was very, VERY positive for a bleed, cuz i hate doing those last minute add-ons and have them turn out normal.

then, the hospital was having a blood drive. the Red Cross vampires have been after my O+ for months, so i decided to shut them up until the middle of December. by the time all is said and done, i'm walking out of the hospital at 4:45. just in time to run by and pick up my husband from work and drive him to the plasma donation place. traffic was predictably and understandably crappy as by now, it's the middle of rush hour. but we make it to the plasma place and i don't feel like driving all the way home and all the way back when he's done, so i sit in the lobby and wait. i figured it would be a good time to meet the management since i'm interested in working there when they extend their hours. Rob apparently asked a managerial guy to come chat with me, but he never came. the place wasn't terribly busy, but i guess they had better things to do than talk with a potential employee who would enjoy the job unlike some of their current employees. and i at least have the tact to not tell customers i hate my job. many of our regulars know i hate my job, but i don't make it a point to tell them that.

Rob sat in the back for 30 minutes before he even got stuck. add that to the hour and a half it takes to donate plasma, and i'm getting justifiably irritated. i'm tired, i don't feel good, i'm hungry, and i just want to go home. once we get home, the dog is understandably hyper and wanting attention, but neither of us really have the energy or the desire to play. she's howling at the door and we just want to eat our frikin dinner and go to bed. i broke down and went out to throw her ball for a bit and that seemed to satisfy her.

and i have class today. i don't think i can focus and we're starting a complex section. st00pid endocrine system......>.<
