Damn Avon.

My mother has decided to sell Avon as her way of making money. Avon. Not getting a real job. Not getting disability benefits, which she would have a good chance of getting, considering she has scoliosis and COPD. Her "reasoning" is that there are so many people in line. My response is that the sooner she gets in the line, the sooner she gets to the front. She has a pattern of "make money quick" schemes like Avon and yard sales, and so on where she wastes money in a vain effort to make money (she spends $2.00 in postage alone to mail several catalogs and still doesn't get orders) AND wants to drag me and my stepfather and sister into it. It's causing problems in the family because we don't want to be involved. I work and go to school. My stepfather works.

I'm worried that the decent existence I've lived in the past two years could come crashing down. I'm seeing too much of the woman my mom used to be: illogical, unreasonable, b****y, with an inability to prioritize.

my clinical schedule for school is royally screwed up. this semester we lost one clinic site and gained 3. our clinical coordinator is awesome and has been trying to integrate us into these new sites and make sure we go places where we are able to get the 25 required proceedures signed off for graduation. well, we got the new schedule today. i thought this week was my last week at the place i'm currently at, but the new schedule has me there one more week (which is fine), and then nothing until mid-October (which is not fine). so now the coordinator and i are playing e-mail tag, and if i don't hear back in a couple hours, i'm calling her up. i have cupcakes to bake and a Thank You note to write if tomorrow is indeed my last day at the current place, and i'd kinda like to know where i'm going next. as of right now, i have no idea.

My parents and several other people I know still don't have power after Ike pwned Ohio. And that was on Sunday! It sucks. Work is overrun with kids who depend on equipment to keep them healthy/alive. Granted Ike sucked a lot more for Texas, but still! Hurricanes aren't supposed to hit here... They're just supposed to float up here and give us a little rainy day. If we are going to have hurricane wind storms, I want access to a beach, dammit!

a beach does sound nice about now. lounging about in the sun, curl up with a good book, and watch the hawt lifeguards.

Kentucky got pwned by Ike as well. we were fortunate and got our power back fairly quickly, but there are still thousands who aren't so lucky. part of the problem is the state sent crews down to Texas and Louisiana, so when the storm hit here, they were already short handed. things are improving slowly but surely. every day a few thousand get their lights back. hope yours comes back soon, Tsl. if you want to make the treck down to Kentucky, i've got space in my fridge and leftovers that need eating. :)

No. She's just witchy when she's not stuck in the house with a cast. When she is stuck in the house with a cast, she's 1000000% more so.

*sigh* so, my husband's car is dead. what we thought was a loose belt and some axels that needed replacing turned out to be a blown gasket somewhere. we're going to look at a car tonight, but we have very limited emergency cash with no way to replenish our funds with our current work situations. heck, both of us may be needing part-time UPS jobs.

Like I said before, I'm worried my old mother is coming back. Some of the personality traits she exhibited when she was mis-medicated are coming back: paranoia (she literally wrote me a note--didn't say it aloud--that the police are watching us), irresponsiblity, inability to prioritize, inability to reason, and generally b****yness. It hasn't become constant, but I'm worried. I can't take that s*** again.

It hasn't gotten too bad yet. I've heard her doctor dropped her off one type of medication. That's probably what's causing it. I've thought about call him and telling him what's going on.

It hasn't happened in a couple of days. Hopefully, it'll work itself out. Plus, we now have a bigger problem. Another doctor has told her she has the lungs of a 99 year old and will die soon if she doesn't quit smoking.
