Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted December 10, 2006 The Island: A ok, so the story was a bit weird at first, but it gets an A based on two things: shirtless Ewan McGregor at the beginning, and two Ewan McGregors in the middle. i need a bigger drool bucket, lol. lots of explosions, car chases, and random acts of violence. there's also Scarlett Johansson for you testosteroney types. Uncle Du 22 Posted December 10, 2006 Speaking of Mario, something quite amusing happened at a party I went to last night. One of the guys there was quite drunk and said, "I'm Mario and there's a mushroom in that block!" He then proceeded to run down the hall and jump, punching his fist into the ceiling tile and knocking it down. and they say video games don't encourage violence. That's not violence, that's called "partying". pssh its entertainment for the drinkers too. at least until morning. It's so worth it though. You gave it an A for a shirtless Ewan? Come on now, what kinda review is that? J/K, it was actually a pretty good flick.
Alexander 0 Posted December 10, 2006 It would have been a great flick. But Michael Bay let Michael Bay get in the way of Michael Bay. He ewoked up his one chance where people thought he was going to make a serious movie. That being said, the first half was really great, the second half was pointless action. Ayingel 24 Posted December 22, 2006 The Wii: A I admit it...I kinda like it...especially since I can play my GameCube games on it ^-^ Legend of Zelda 2: Twilight Princess A- very good, but the cut scenes are starting to get a litle annoying...
Neil1 0 Posted December 22, 2006 A- I'm tempted to give it a B+, really I am. The long drawn ending to a very obvious conclusion subtracted from a very good film. The credits alone ere excellent, bar the Daniel Craig fetish and the pitiful choice of song. I knew the moment they took the decision to cast a blond actor they weren't afraid to change. A production team with a bit of balls - it's a fresh change. Did anyone else feel like crying when the Aston Martin rolled into oblivion? I'm no Car lover, but that's like burning Picasso's man! You don't mess with art. :D

Uncle Du 22 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) Superman Returns: The Videogame XBox 360 Overall Grade: C+ There are certain aspects of this game that are really freakin cool, but they don't outweigh some of the really horrible quirks of this game. To begin with, the gameply itself gets really monotonous, after about, oh, 10 minutes. Most of the time your flying around Metropolis, and then a bunch of Metallos minions show up, and you have to beat em up. This happens WAY too often, and there's no way to get around these encounters. If you do nothing about them, the cities health drops all the way, and you lose. Yes, I said the cities health. Because you're Superman, you can't get beat up by anyone unless they have kryptonite, so they had to come up with an "original" way to make sure you can still lose. It's pretty freakin dumb too, cause it's not like these guys are even destroying the whole city, they're damaging one little area of this 80 square mile playing field. Which brings me to one of the really awesome parts of this game, which is the city itself. It is MASSIVE. It is pretty damn sweet to fly through the city, through all the streets, and even more fun to try and navigate the concrete jungle at super speed. Another really awesome aspect of this game is flying. You can tell this is where the most time was spent, fine tuning the flight dynamics and what not. THe game is seamless when going from walking to flying. And even then, you have the option for a super take-off, which is really effective at getting yourself above the city in less than a few seconds. And I haven't even mentioned flying at super-speed yet. Once you hold down the super speed button, the environment gets kinda fuzzy, making it very believable that you're flying pretty damn fast. Hold it down long enough, and Superman actually breaks the sound barrier. At least, that's what I've interpreted it as. All in all, the best part about the game. You might be wondering why I've given this game a farily crappy grade, and it all comes down to the hand to hand combat, and the camera. The hand to hand moves are pretty neat, but when fighting multiple enemies, it's so hard to keep track of em all, because the camera angles don't do what you want em to. Evertime you move the camera to adjust, it will automatically readjust as soon as Superman moves, to what the designers thought would be "helpful", I guess. Who knows. But because of this, it makes overall gameplay somewhat more of a chore, than really being fun. All in all, it was kind of a let down after all the hype this game got. The flying is fun, and blowing stuff up is cool, but then, that kinda defeats the purpose of being Superman. But, you can play as Bizarro, and then you can do whatever you want. So, while there are some pretty cool aspects to this game, it's definitely more of a rental game, than one to buy. This is where having GameFly comes in really handy. ;) Edited December 27, 2006 by Du

Ayingel 24 Posted December 28, 2006 Rocky Balboa: B mehhh....too typical for me...too much of a happy ending...there really wasn't a major climax...not a real big conflict. it was good...just not my type of movie. Eragon: C- i loved the book. i hated the movie. i honestly found it that simple. it was interesting seeing the book interpreted, but it got so much of it wrong...the wrong people died, important characters were left out, important characters were mixed around, certain important scenes didn't take place. i understand that they were trying to fit it all within an hour and fourty minutes, but really...some of it wasn't that great. i loved the special effects, but the rest of the movie didn't cut it, honestly... Neil1 0 Posted December 29, 2006 The thing with Rocky Balboa is that it's average. Some parts were good, others could've been made bigger. They crammed too much into a short space of time. They also seemed to focus too hard ticking of Rocky themes on a big old checklist.
Drake 53 Posted December 29, 2006 A Night at the Museum = A+ A movie starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Dick Van Dyke AND Mickey Rooney just HAS to be good. And boy is it ever. It's a feel-good family movie but it's full of action and tonnes of humour. It's the best thing of its kind since Jumanji or Indian in the Cupboard. The clashing eras and the inevitable bonding between them at the end make for a great variety in characters and scenes. As soon as the movie was done, I said to my friends, "Now there's a movie worth downloading tonight!" And I did...and I'm watching it now. :)
