Mara 29 Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) Saw it on Saturday.. was friggin' awesome... Will expound on that later. ;p Edit: Here it is, yay. Copied from my Flixster summary. SpiderMan 3: Rating: A Okay, I know some people are dissing on it because they think there is too much going on. Or too many characters. Some are saying the 2nd was the best. Well, that may be, for some, but really, I don't think that's the big picture. The big picture, I think, is the underlying arc of revenge and forgiveness. It was sorta Count of Monte Cristoesque in that Peter was fine and dandy, until his life started spiraling out of control. He wanted to blame someone for killing his uncle (Flint) and he also had this mysterious black power that aided him. He felt better, for a while, for thinking he had avenged his father's death. And there were forces working against him, like Harry. But in the end, Harry eventually saw, with help from Bernard, that Peter/Spidey was not the bad one and he came to help his friend against the baddies. Also, to jilt Peter's messed up revenge fantasy of his uncle being shot in cold blood, Flint explained that it had all been an accident, a simple mistake. And, despite prior feelings and after realizing that revenge/dark suit power was not the way to go, Peter forgave Flint. (I think that was one of my favorite scenes in the movie). So in the end, all was well. That's just my take on it. But, yeah, some people might complain that there were too many bad guys or too many "new" characters and scenes that appeared out of nowhere.. but I enjoyed that. I was expecting a big blowout with lots of bad guys against Spidey and it delivered. And yeah, there were a few cheesy scenes, like when Peter was "dancing" around after he went and bought that black suit after he went dark. But a movie shouldn't be judged on that. (Heck, SpiderMan 2 had that "Raindrops" scene after he dumps the suit). The only thing I was a little sad about was the ending. I was hoping for a bit more, but knowing what all came before it... I understand that them sharing an understanding hug was all in the best. Rushing into anything more would be just that, rushing it. So, no matter what other people think or judge this movie on, I think it was plain awesome with just enough emotional and relationship stuff among the characters to balance out the outrageously awesome action sequences Edited May 7, 2007 by Mara
Ayingel 24 Posted May 29, 2007 Pirates of the Carribean 3: B/A- to be honest...it let me down a little. the end was happy, sure...but also really really depressing. my friend gabby and i were talking and they need another follow up movie. and drake, i don't think i thought of the song that you were talking about, but i had the "you are a pirate" song in my head. and i went in costume. and the theatre was mostly empty. and i want them to show elizabeth with her crew more... Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted May 29, 2007 that'll be Pirates 4 Spidy 3: B+ yeah, it was pretty good. the cheezy dancing scenes knock it down a peg or two, but the end battle was amazing. Pirates 3: A+ the battles were amazing, and the plot has more twists than a spiraly noodle. this one was waaaaaaaaay better than Pirates 2. and the dialogue made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt. Ender 8 Posted May 29, 2007 Pirates gets an A+. Mainly because of Keith Richards' ridiculous badassery, but also for Keira Knightley's legs. Mmm.
Drake 53 Posted May 30, 2007 (edited) Keira...agreed! Edited May 30, 2007 by Drake
Chickenman 9 Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) Pirates: B+ Much better than the 2nd, but I still prefer the first one. I dunno, the first was just funnier, had more of a swashbuckler feel to it. I felt really bad for Will at the end. I mean, he marries KEIRA KNIGHTLY and can't have sex with her for another ten years. That freaking sucks. Edit: Better? Ayingel 24 Posted June 3, 2007 STYX World Tour 2007 (concert): A being that this was only my second STYX concert ever, in talking to people who've been to more, and people who've gone to most of the concerts for the tour, this tour is one of the best. i even caught a pick, bought a shirt, and got confetti down my top...and i think it's still in there O_o...they had a really good mix of their old songs and set lists, and they even played Come Sail Away along with their other closers and usual encore. however, the band that played before them was merely a bunch of old men (and one of their kids) living out their dream of a rock band...a really REALLY loud one...that not many people liked (called Hoodlums)
Bad furday 57 Posted June 3, 2007 *newscaster voice* "...and the highlight of one young lady's evening was getting confetti down her top! Back to you in the studio!" ;)

Ayingel 24 Posted August 12, 2007 Monty Python's Spamalot grade: A+ This was really a great musical. Granted, I saw the tour, not the Broadway, but it was still amazing. Plenty of jokes, lots of people singing a long (Always Look on the Bright Side of Life is a sing along at the very end of the play) and some really great actors. Many of the scenes were recognizable from the movie and they split the actors mostly the same way they were split in the movie as well (after all, it is "Lovingly ripped off" from the movie and original scripts). John Cleese's voice even made a guest appearance. I really wish I could go to the final show tomorrow, but tonight was sold out, and we were in box seats, so I could only imagine what tomorrow could be like. I expect that Terry Gilliam (the only non-British, and Minnesotan member of Monty Python) will be there. Everyone looked like they were having a good time, and it was definitely worth the standing ovation at the end of the show.
Ender 8 Posted August 12, 2007 Spamalot's the best show I've seen on Broadway. Granted, I've not gotten around a whole lot, but I've seen it three times now, each one really fantastic.
Drake 53 Posted August 12, 2007 I'm planning on seeing We Will Rock You or Evil Dead: The Musical! in Toronto in the near future.
Ayingel 24 Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) Also just bought Guitar Hero Encore Rocks the 80's Grade=A you can't buy songs, but it's challenging, and the last set it pretty hard correction...the last encore song is so hard, they tell you to practice it before hand...and you really have to... Mara 29 Posted August 13, 2007 Stardust: A- I saw this on a lark with a friend of mine. We wanted something long and worth paying for, lol. But I was pleasantly surprised. This movie is weird, yes, but in a very good way. It's super hilarious and very entertaining.

Bad furday 57 Posted August 18, 2007 Then neither of you need to read my post High School Musical 2 A- It's summer time, and the East Side High students are free! They all end up being hired ( well, the main characters anyway) by Sharpay's parents/resort. Sharpay schemes to take Troy for herself, and destroy the relationship between his friends, himself, and Gabriella. What will the basketball team do? Not to mention Ryan trying to escape his demanding sister's ( Sharpay) shadow. It's nice that the producers went with all new settings and themes, as opposed to completely remaking the first musical. I enjoyed the dancing very much, and most of the songs are really entertaining to listen to. I still can't get "You Are the Music in Me" out of my head. In addition to the music, the scenery ( New Mexico) presents a very attractive, summertime backdrop. Actually, it makes me want to move to New Mexico. All the characters have chemistry that really is felt though the screen. They all have matured since the first movie and now look quite hott, with (for me) Ashely Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens stealing the show. Singing and dancing where everyone knows the words in seconds? Palpable onscreen camaraderie between large groups of "really, really good looking" people? What else can I say? I wish my high school had been that cool! Ayingel 24 Posted August 18, 2007 i dunno, it feels like they're creating a false idea for the poor little people who will be freshman this year... and...no offense, but why did you watch it? i was going to watch it last night merely out of boredom.
