  1. Celebration Anaheim attendees were treated to a special teaser of upcoming spin-off Star Wars: Rogue One this weekend.Speaking at Celebration Kathleen Kennedy and director Gareth Edwards revealed new information about the upcoming spin-off, which has only one cast member confirmed so far - Felicity Jones, who will allegedly play a Rebel soldier. Those attending the panel were also treated to a special teaser trailer which has leaked online, which confirms the setting as being pre-A New Hope, with a plot revolving around Rebel Alliance forces retrieving the plans for the first dreaded Death Star. The teaser trailer is at this stage more of a concept reveal, as the film has not yet started shooting, but is certain to whet the appetites of eager fans. Edwards also stated to fans that "the absence of the Jedi is omnipresent in the film. It hangs over the whole movie", and further elaborated that the difference between the good guys and the bad guys may not be so clear cut. The spin-off movies will be known as 'Anthology' films and will be stand alone features that form part of the official canon but do not rely on the core characters of the main Star Wars saga. Rogue One is currently scheduled for release on 16 December 2016. Click here to view the article

  3. Didn't see anything updated in here, so figured I would start this thread so we have a place for all the rumors and hypothesis about the new movies. I think my biggest thing is this: if they don't follow the EU in SOME way, it would be like a huuuuge "EFF YOU" to all the fans that have read, and made the EU so crazy successful. Just hope that ol George retains enough power to keep Disney from screwin' with the entire universe.

  7. Oscar-winner Michael Arndt is out as the screenwriter for Episode VII--but who is coming in?Thursday, Lucasfilm announced a big change-up in the screenwriters for the next film in the Star Wars series. Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine) is being replaced by the team of director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (who has previously been serving as a consultant for the film) in a surprise twist. For those unfamiliar with Kasdan, you may recognize his body of works: The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. "I am very excited about the story we have in place and thrilled to have Larry and J.J. working on the script," states Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. "There are very few people who fundamentally understand the way a Star Wars story works like Larry, and it is nothing short of incredible to have him even more deeply involved in its return to the big screen. J.J. of course is an incredible storyteller in his own right. Michael Arndt has done a terrific job bringing us to this point and we have an amazing filmmaking and design team in place already prepping for production." Currently, the studio seems to be remaining mum on the topic of Arndt's departure. This does bring into question whether the original planned direction for the film will continue (Arndt had originally drafted a 40-50 page document), or if Abrams is going to push more towards something like his Star Trek reboots. 10. Amazingly, there wasn't a thread for this. Anywho, I went and saw it in 3D a few weeks ago, and I was disappointed by the 3D. I wanted blaster bolts coming at me and I expected the podrace to be "wizard." It was just "eh" even though the podrace did have the best 3D explosion of the entire movie.
