Denis Leary... one of the greatest comedians ever.

"You're gonna have to go to war, shoot a gun, kill a nun..."

-Part of a Denis Leary song. Cant find the rest of the lyrics...

Service in the military, for those of you unfortunate enough never to have experianced it firsthand, consists of long periods of boredom broken by mind-shredding threats to one's life and sanity. From what I can gather of the old tapes, it's always been like that. The best soldiers are those who can wake suddenly, react instantly, and aim precisely.

Unfortunately, none of those traits are shared by the military intelligence that controls those soldiers.

During the Second World War, the Germans took four years to build the Atlantic Wall. On four beaches it held up the Allies for about an hour; at Omaha it held up the U.S. for less than one day. The Atlantic Wall must therefore be regarded as one of the greatest blunders in military history.

Quotes from

Lost in Translation

Bob: What are you doing?

Charlotte: My husband's a photographer, so he's here working. I wasn't doing anything so I came along.

Bob: What do you do?

Charlotte: I'm not sure yet, actually.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: Can you keep a secret? I'm trying to organize a prison break. We have to first get out of this bar, then the hotel, then the city, and then the country. Are you in or you out?

Charlotte: I'm in.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte: I just don't know what I'm supposed to be.

Bob: You'll figure that out. The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte: I tried taking pictures, but they were so mediocre. I guess every girl goes through a photography phase. You know, horses... taking pictures of your feet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stills Photographer: Are you drinking, no?

Bob: Am I drinking?

Stills Photographer: Yeah.

Bob: As soon as I'm done.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte: You're probably just having a mid-life crisis. Did you buy a Porsche yet?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: For relaxing times, make it Suntory time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: What kind of restaurant makes you cook your own food?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[After a long speech in Japanese]

Ms. Kawasaki: He want you to turn and look in camera. Okay?

Bob: Is that all he said?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: I don't get that close to the glass unless I'm on the floor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[At a photo shoot]

Bob: You want more mysterious? I'll just try and think where the hells the whiskey.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Photographer: You know double-O-7?

Bob: He drinks martinis, but all right.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kelly: I'm under Evelyn Waugh.

Charlotte: Evelyn Waugh was a man.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

John: Why do you have to point out how stupid everyone is all the time?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: You're not hopeless.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: I was feeling tight in the shoulders and neck, so I called down and had a Shiatsu massage in my room...

Charlotte: Mmh, that's nice!

Bob: And the tightness has completely disappeared, and then replaced by unbelievable pain!

[she laughs]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: It gets a whole lot more complicated when you have kids.

Charlotte: It's scary.

Bob: The most terrifying day of your life is the day the first one is born.

Charlotte: Nobody ever tells you that.

Bob: Your life, as you know it... is gone. Never to return. But they learn how to walk, and they learn how to talk... and you want to be with them. And they turn out to be the most delightful people you will ever meet in your life.

Charlotte: That's nice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: Enjoy your fright.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bob: Enjoy my jacket, which you stole from me.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lydia: Do I need to worry about you, Bob?

Bob: Only if you want to.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charlotte: So, what are you doing here?

Bob: Uh, a couple of things. Taking a break from my wife, forgetting my son's birthday. And, uh, getting paid two million dollars to endorse a whiskey when I could be doing a play somewhere.

Charlotte: Oh.

Bob: But the good news is, the whiskey works.

In honor and due respect to the most notable of our nation's Founders, our first president, and arguably, one of history's greatest Patriots, I would like to show two quotes from George Washington. The first is from his First Inagural Address on April 30, 1789, and the second from his Farewell Address, September 19, 1796.

"The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican model of government, are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American People."

"Of all the the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness-these firmest props of the duties of Men and citizens."

From a new Spike TV cartoon called This Just In...

*While in Beverly Hills*

Cop: Sir, do you realize how black you were going?

Black guy: Uhh...somewhere between Denzel Washington and Nelly?

Cop: Actually, I clocked you just under 50 Cent.

White guy: Sorry officer but we were just on our way to try and get Wayne Brady to run for president.

Cop: Wayne Brady! We all love Wayne Brady here in Beverly Hills!

Black guy: Sooo...you're not giving us a ticket?

Cop: No way! We don't give tickets to Wayne Brady fans...even if they are black.

*One of the characters is driving over a bridge (I still don't know the character's names)*

Ted Kennedy: *pops up from the back seat* Hey there, son.

Guy: Whoa! How did you get in my car!?

TK: I'm not sure. I went to sleep in this Asian chick's car then woke up here.

Guy: Wait. Ted Kennedy...bridge...over water.... Oh #$%&.

*Car splashes into the water, upsidedown*

Your confusion is understandable. You probably don't know who Denzel Washington is....or Nelly...or 50 Cent...or Wayne Brady...or Ted Kennedy.

Dunno who Wayne Brady or Ted Kennedy are... I've heard of Denzel Washington, and I know Nelly and 50 Cent make crappy music (IMO)

Wayne Brady is a comedian on the American version of Who's Line is is Anyway? And Ted Kennedy is the brother (I think) of ex-president Kennedy.
