Chickenman 9 Posted April 5, 2009 Apparently Demi Moore saved someone's life via Twitter, as well.

TheUnknown 39 Posted May 1, 2009 A party switch in the Senate and now a retirement on the Supreme Court. All in one week.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 1, 2009 Ah yes, the aging senator from PA. I have a really hard time believing he's doing this for the people he supposedly represents.
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 1, 2009 Oh, I know he didn't. At least 75% of the reason for his switch was to save his own ass from assured defeat at the hands of the increasingly right-wing Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate.
Chickenman 9 Posted May 1, 2009 The dude literally said he switched because he can't win otherwise, lol.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 1, 2009 Gotta love that "For the people, by the people" concept. And guess what? The people will possibly re-elect him. Good for the sheep.
Bad furday 57 Posted May 1, 2009 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090501/ap_on_...291cGxlYXJyZXN0 The Japanese tourists bit really makes this article :D

Ender 8 Posted May 2, 2009 That article's been the #1 most read on The Guardian for three days. :D
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 3, 2009 And the weird political week continues: Jack Kemp dies.
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 6, 2009 Gay marriage is now legal in Maine and has passed the state legislature in New Hampshire and awaits the signature of the Democratic (albeit very moderate Democrat) Governor. Once it takes effect, gay marriage will be legal in Iowa, Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts, and New Hampshire of Gov. Lynch signs the bill.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 6, 2009 Good news, Congress just passed some sort of mandate that basically says that Specter (and party hoppers like him) will NOT retain seniority on the committees they're on. :D
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 7, 2009 I know. It's awesome!
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 7, 2009 Now I'm just waiting for the two steps backward. :p
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 7, 2009 No, he won't switch back. He knows he'll lose. He's already back-backtracked on the Employee Free Choice Act, saying he will now support it after he said it wouldn't after he did last session.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 7, 2009 I meant more of a metaphorical two steps back...Congress passed something that makes sense, so I'm waiting for something else that will be completely asinine. :p
TheUnknown 39 Posted May 7, 2009 How about a resolution "supporting the goals and ideals of National Train Day," which passed the House today.
Uncle Du 22 Posted May 7, 2009 Well, if it's a day off, I suppose I can celebrate the likes of Thomas the Tank Engine. :p
Bad furday 57 Posted May 7, 2009 You could combine Thomas with Blaine ( from Stephen King's Dark Tower series) and have it as such: "One day, on the island of Sodor, Thomas decided that Sir Topham Hatt.....would be the first to go!" *ominous tone, with zealously evil grin plastered on Thomas' face. Thomas chuggs off, cackling evily to himself* A definite improvement, ja? :D
Bad furday 57 Posted May 7, 2009 *snifcry* I thought it was brilliant. Thomas...a homely tank engine who speeds to and fro. Blaine.....a monorail whose internal computer decay causes him to become more and more sadistical, taking delight in asking people riddles and killing them if they get it wrong. Combine the two....and not even Ringo Starr could save the people on the island! ;)
Chickenman 9 Posted May 8, 2009 ... What the kriff, man? I followed you up until the Ringo Starr reference this time. :p
Bad furday 57 Posted May 8, 2009 On the tv show Thomas the Tank Engine, before they realised it was cheaper to do it all with model trains, Ringo Starr was Mr. Conductor, who apparently knew all about the trains and people on the island of Sodor, and through the magic of television, was only 3.25 inches tall. Like a SW figure :p
