Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted January 24, 2008 depends on where you get your news. all NPR was talking about yesterday and this morning was the economy and the stock market.
jedimaster1043 1 Posted January 24, 2008 I guess Keith Ledger died (how do you spell his name?). I found out more about him after he died; I guess he was in brokeback mountian( never saw it, dont intend to!). The only thing that sucks about him dying is that it might mess up the new Batman movie.
Mara 29 Posted January 24, 2008 It's Heath... and no, the movie was done a while ago, so it'll be fine. And it's a big loss for the whole industry; he was a great actor and performer.
Mara 29 Posted January 24, 2008 the only thing that's bothering me tho... i know heath died...and everyone who loved his movies is sad....but the economy here in the us crashed yesterday...and all the news was talking about was heath... Yeah, that and "castgate." I don't give a crap about Tom Brady's "boot."
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted January 25, 2008 i'm gonna go ahead and merge this with the Random News thread. if a big discussion gets going, we'll split it off again.
Andy 60 Posted January 25, 2008 but the economy here in the us crashed yesterday... It's more of a slow-down than a full on crash, really, as far as I know.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted January 25, 2008 for now, yes. but it's got people worried. personally i think they're overreacting a bit because markets fluxuate. it's gonna go down at some point, and then it will come back up. i blame it on being an election year. :p
Ayingel 24 Posted January 26, 2008 i dunno...the dow industrial hit negatives numbers...usually that bothers people...
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted January 26, 2008 it also hit record highs not too long ago. but hey, the gubment's gonna send me a check, so i try not to complain too much. ;)

Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted January 30, 2008 President Gordon B. Hinckley of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint has passed away at 97 President Hinckley was a man who touched the lives of Mormons and non-Mormons alike. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004, and worked tirelessly in fostering kindness and goodwill worldwide and with the energy of men half his age. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn his passing. And also send the good vibes to his successor, Thomas Monson, as he's got some big shoes to fill. Ender 8 Posted February 1, 2008 Stephen Colbert's writers murdered Hinckley. Just so ya know.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted February 1, 2008 you mean he has writers? GET BACK TO WRITING HOUSE!!!!! Colbert murders everyone. if good ol' Rev Jackson croaked tomorrow, they'd have a field day. *discretely sends threatening messages written in cut-up magazines to Colbert*
Mara 29 Posted February 1, 2008 No "House," JM, I think Colbert' show just made a deal with writers, just like Worldwide Pants did to keep Letterman and Ferguson with writers. There's still a strike. But there are rumors of reaching a deal soon.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted February 1, 2008 *sigh* i know. i can still complain though.
Ender 8 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) No, Stephen and Jon Stewart are working without writers still. But on the "Report" the other day Stephen had a quick segment about Hinckley's death where he mentioned Hinckley's 2002 interview where he said something along the lines of "All writers should be locked up in a box and thrown into the sea." (Nice fella!) So then Stephen noticed that he hadn't seen his writers in a few months... thus, they killed him. EDIT: It was on the January 28th show. Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted February 1, 2008 i'd like to see the transcript of that interview, lol. i do know he jokingly remarked that if all the cameras in the world were thrown into the ocean, there'd be a huge flood.
Mara 29 Posted February 2, 2008 Oh, I thought I had seen somewhere that they had also made a deal. Anyway... personally, I think I like Leno better without writers--a lot less of those stupid segments.
Ender 8 Posted February 2, 2008 Leno and Letterman have always been terrible anyway. Conan and Craig are much, much better.
Mara 29 Posted February 4, 2008 Oh, Craig and Conan, I agree, but I just like Leno. I think he's a great guy. Dave, on the other hand, is a creepy old man.
