TheUnknown 39 Posted September 27, 2007 Yeah, the first snake is a cottonmouth. We have copperheads, too, but I'm not as afraid of them. I hear their venom is pretty week and their pretty docile.
Andy 60 Posted September 27, 2007 We only have 3 types of snake here. Adders are the only poisonous one. But nobody really gets seriously ill from that unless they have an allergic reaction: The there is the Grass Snake, which is the biggest of the UK snakes, at a whopping 5 foot long And the Smooth Snake, which is apparently very rare (about 3,000 of them) but they might just be shy:
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 27, 2007 You have three species of snakes total in your whole country? My state, which is about the size of England and Wales, if I remember correctly as five species of venomous snakes alone (Copperhead, Cottonmouth/Water Moccusin, Coral Snake, Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, and Timber/Canebreak Rattlesnake). Hell, the region of the state I live in has three species of venomous snakes.

Andy 60 Posted September 27, 2007 You have three species of snakes total in your whole country? The climate isn't ideal for reptiles here, lol. <huge list of snakes> Sucks to be you. :p
TheUnknown 39 Posted September 27, 2007 Mara included all of the species of snakes. Most of those are probably pretty harmless. i'm just glad i don't live in a swampy place with the cottonmouths. i hear those are really nasty. I agree. Of the three species of venomous snakes here, those scare me the most. Rattlesnakes have a warning mechanism. Copperheads have weak venom. Cottonmouths are always in a pissy mood, stand their ground (see the first picture I posted), and have some pretty potent venom.
Mara 29 Posted September 27, 2007 <huge list of snakes> Sucks to be you. Nah, snakes are cool. Besides, most of those I hardly ever see, probably because they're out in marshlands and farmlands and stuff. The only one that comes out around is the Garter Snake, and it's perfectly harmless. And cute.

I'm sure I can remember using a currency converter for it years ago. Yeah, just a few years ago, actually. The article I posted says, "Just five years ago, in January 2002, the loonie hit a record low of 61.79 US cents." A week or two ago they equaled each other. I didn't hear about it until a few days ago so I'm not sure if it was that long ago. Maybe it did then went back down a bit again?
Mara 29 Posted October 2, 2007 I dunno.. I just remember hearing about it a week or two ago. Don't remember exactly. Days blend together for me, so maybe it was just last week.
