chozen 1 Posted May 13, 2004 Actually, if they're arrested as terrorists, the Geneva Convention rules don't apply. Really? Isn't that just part of the anti terror laws?
Alexander 0 Posted May 13, 2004 (edited) You can use psychological means to break terrorists under the Geneva Convention (ie. rationing their food, depriving them of sleep, playing loud music constantly). However, you cannot torture them. Also, a majority of the people in that prison were reported to be wrongfully imprisoned. Ender 8 Posted May 13, 2004 Like I said, its HORRIBLE to kill a armed soldier ready to shoot you Those werent armed soldiers who were mutilated. Those were American civilians. Contractors, if memory serves.

Rogue 4 Posted May 13, 2004 I haven't read this thread, but it is my opinion that by doing that to the Iraqi prisoners, we stooped to thier level. If we stoop that low we're no better than them.
chozen 1 Posted May 13, 2004 Yet the contractors were urged to leave Iraq Yet they're part of the rebuilding process that needs to be done. Rogue, not all of the people in that prison were members of Saddams henchmen, some of them are prisoners from before the regime change. Still scum bags, most likely.. Drake 53 Posted May 13, 2004 ...or people who spoke out against Saddam. Except those ones were probably executed.

Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted May 14, 2004 ow bad is this, compared to the mutilation of those Americans? Huh? Were any of those prisoners killed and cut into pieces? Were they dragged through the streets? No, they were not. They got roughed up. Why does it need comparison? This wasn't some radical militant group that committed prisoner abuse...it was the US military! if the media is correct (and we all know how reliable the media is ) this abuse is only being carried out by a small group of US soldiers. so, in that sense, one could call them a radical militant group. Alexander 0 Posted May 14, 2004 There's a lot of radical militant groups on both sides in the middle east. Maybe there's something in the water? :p
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted May 14, 2004 could be. or maybe being out in the hot sun all the time is affecting their brains. ;)
Drake 53 Posted May 14, 2004 Nah, it's because they're in the army period. You don't need brains to shoot a gun.....and you obviously don't need one to take pictures of yourself holding the leash of a naked Iraqi and sending them over email to your family and friends overseas.

Yes, because we all know how the fair the justice system was under Saddam. fair or unfair, it's not like rapists, murderers etc. got away without any form of puniushment. There was wrongful imprissonement, of course, but some prisoners probably do deserve to be there. but that's not the point. one could call them a radical militant group. hahaha, Whatever next... Andy 60 Posted May 14, 2004 Well, the editor of the UK's Daily Mirror has resigned after admitting that the photographs depicting British troops abusing Iraqi prisoners are fake. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3716151.stm
