Damn dental surgery. I had both bottom, back molars, both bottom wisdom teeth, and the top, left wisdom tooth. The pain isn't that bad, but I can't really chew because both sides of my mouth have wounds.

if your argument for us to let you drive away after you and your girlfriend (who you both deny is your girlfriend) is jumping up and down like a child and saying "i'm an adult", you're not winning. i hope you two get pulled over and learn you're not invincible.

I understand that companies are trying to save paper, but it's a pain the ass to read my camera's user manual off my computer in Adobe instead of a real paper booklet.

Do they at least have semi-decent toilet paper? As a cost-saving measure, we got stuck with literally tissue paper. It's less than 1/2 ply. It disentigrates if you blow on it. >.<

"i guess...i'm going to bed soon---"

"oh hi! so you're having computer problems..."

(20 minutes later)

"robert. it's hot in here, i want to go to bed and i need to set my alarm clock"

*ignoring me* "you're using vista? oh well we had to run a search on google to find all the processes"

(15 minutes later)

i'm still awake. i want to go to bed. its ewoking hot. i need to set my alarm because i picked up a shift tomorrow.

edit:

Thankfully enough doctors have complained that once this supply runs out, they'll order something (hopefully) better.

You're lucky there. We have a doctor whom our CEO had a meeting about and told everyone that they just had to deal with him because he's one of two doctors who does what he does. Apparently this doc told a nurse that she got her degree from a crackerjack box.

Rosa overheated in the middle of Lexington Avenue today. Burned my hands pushing her off to the side, too.

Oh, the joys of the city in summer.

Watch me post this rant and TSL show up. TSL you are not included in the nurses that I am about to rant about.

Nurses are idiots! Do not get sick if you want to live. Seriously! This nurse called tonight and it was obvious that he was new, but you can't be that stupid and get your nurses license, you just can't be. While I was on a 15 minute break he called saying that he had a written order for blood in his hand and how long it would take us to get it ready. He was informed that we couldn't do anything until it was ordered in the computer system, since it wasn't emergency release, and was told how to order it. He called again with another question while I was on break and one of my coworkers answered his question. So, I get back from break, don't even have the sample yet, and he calls again telling me that the sample was just drawn and asking how long it would take to get the blood. My answer was 45 minutes and that I'd call him when it was ready. Hang up the phone, less than a minute later he calls AGAIN! "You'll call me stat when the blood is ready, right? You know how to reach me?" No, I've been working at the hospital for 5 years and I don't have most of the phone numbers to the units memorized. I finally get the sample and it's ordered routine, which means I could have sat on it and waited for a Stat to do it with, but I didn't. I just sit down to do all the pre-transfusion testing and the phone rings again, I look at the caller ID and it's the same unit. Sigh. Luckily, it's another nurse wanting plasma for another patient, and she just happens to be the charge nurse for that unit. So, I question the other nurse's competence to administer blood and explain what's going on and that every time that he calls and I have to answer the phone, it delays the patient getting blood. She sighs and says that she'll go explain the whole process to them again (and probably tell him that it's a poor idea to piss off the people who control your lab results).

And NICU, it is not my fault that you can't draw a CBC without clotting it. We do not have magical little fairies that put clots into the specimens as they travel to the lab. Also, we are not mean people who take sadistical pleasure in making you heelstick that poor baby again, so you don't have to tell us how bad their little feet look, we can imagine it, but would you rather have accurate results that actually show you what is going on with your baby or just some random numbers from a crappy specimen that will cause your nurse practitioner or neonatologist to decide to treat the baby and maybe do some harm? And as for those newborns, well, they get that nice shot of vitamin K, so, of course all their specimens are going to clot right away. Either draw them before they get the vitamin K or wait a couple of hours, then get the CBC.

Okay, I feel better now.

i hate my managers and hr. they're soooooooooooooooo dumb sometimes. we had a girl who worked for us last year who caused lots of problems, did a lot of drugs (and i know she still does a lot of them), and was mentally unstable. well, we HIRED HER BACK like a bunch of doofuses. she had "a mental breakdown" (aka she came down off of whatever the hell she was on) at work the other week and now she has the entire ewoking month off for july (and her seasonal position ends mid august). we have two other runners (neither of which really runs)...one is a girl who is lazy, has another job, and likes to pass everything off to other people (when i worked in the same position with her, she did the same thing to me but didn't get away with it)...the other is our fill-in dishwasher because we hired another numbnuts who was so stupid as to try to use a fake id to get his mall badge, would take hour breaks for no freaking reason (and stay clocked in), steal the OPs loading cart, and making sounds that sound like he's having a seizure. needless to say, he's fired, our other seasonal dishwasher had better be working more or we'll have issues, and our only good runner is washing dishes all the time.

about today. today is toddler tuesday at the mall (AKA THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE) and bitty tuesday in the store. it is also relaunch day for our JLY dolls (now MY AG) and the launch of our new online program, so the store is going to be ewoking busy. and because the company is trying a new stupid E-Smart scheduling (which i hate because i now need to know all schedules a MONTH a goddamn freaking month ahead of time), not enough people were scheduled for today. not to mention there are SEVERAL servers who don't do any ewoking work when there is a runner (who now happens to be me today because people are DUMB) and i will be doing ALL OF IT because they suck. i've been gotten on to for the same thing because i've gotten overwhelmed before and i've gotten better.

now, add on top of all of this the back pain i've had recently (i can't lie flat on my back and it feels all warm and painful when i lift too much) and the fact that it hurts to raise my arms over my head and i'm in for a GREAT ewokING week. this is supposed to be my day off, and this happened last week on my day off too. i said no last night but because people don't talk to each other and can't seem to take a hint, i need to go in. because they need me. i need a real job. and fast. too bad no one wants to hire an office worker without a degree (which is dumb, because i know people without degrees that are in office positions) or even want to look at their resume or application without it for that reason.

also throw on there that in only have one day off next week. normally not a big deal, but there is this annoying new girl (who i like, i really do, but she keeps trying to give up shifts) and keeps asking me to take her shift that day. i've told her no twice since its my day off, and she still keeps asking! OMFG GIVE UP ALREADY. and if this track record keeps up, i'm again going to have to work on that day. i'm going to say no as many times as possible, but my one manager keeps on guilt tripping me. enough with it, okay? i wrestle with it enough myself and keep beating myself up over saying no or the wrong thing, okay? GET OFF MY ewokING BACK.

I've gone through this with Daniel more than once. I turn the light on and say, "If you're not going to work, call your boss and tell him you don't feel like getting out of bed. And THEN you're getting up to go to the doctor."

Rob has this annoying tendancy to keep hitting the snooze and then let the dumb alarm go off every 10 minutes. It drives me nuts. Especially when I don't have to be up. Whereas when I have to be up before him, I turn the radio down to where I can barely hear it (I like to get the traffic report), try to be really quiet, and get dressed in the dark. Do I get that same courtesy? Nooooo....

Bad furday

I was going to post this in the CV thread, but that's pretty empty...and then was going to put this in the Cantina, but is probably belongs here better.

Anyhoo...it's (Soon to be Uncle) Furday's storytime! :D From Celebration 5!

*My co-workers' reactions have been added, for extra effect*

Me, talking to Allyson at work: They were playing the movies at night at the convention, but I was a bit late, and missed the beginning of Empire. I walked over to one of the crosswalks to get to the convention center, and there's this girl there. As we're crossing the street, she's like " Are you going to see the movies too?" I said that I was. I said that I really couldn't place her accent, and asked if she was English. She laughed and said that no, she has a weird accent, and that she was from Pittsburgh. She actually knew where Binghamton was!

We talked for a bit as we walked over together. "Wow," I thought, " we're really hitting it off! And she's so easy to talk to!"

When we got inside the center, she asked if I knew sign language. I had asked her to repeat herself a few times, as it was a bit windy walking over, and I couldn't hear her, so I guess that's why she asked. I replied that no, I didn't, and then asked if she was a teacher. Turns out she's a speech therapist who specializes in deaf and hard of hearing patients!

Allyson: No way!

Me: Way!

Allyson: Dan, you just met the love of your life!

Me: But wait, there's more!

She then asked what I did, and told her I was an artist. She asked what types of artwork I did, and as I explained, i got out a business card. I handed her the card when there was a break in the conversation. "You drew this yourself?" she asked. I nodded. "This is very impressive- I'm going to have to show my husband, he's an illustrator!"

Me, thinking: *Anakin as Vader* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Allyson: Oh Dan- I'm so sorry!

Rich: Hey...maybe she likes to swing! *makes swinging motion with his arms*

Nikki: I don't want to know, Rich!

heh..... :p :(

So I called out sick from work today (remember, I'm part-time now to finish school, so it's only three hours) because I've got a ... I dunno what, but it's sinus-related and miserable and moving into my chest. So I call out, and get a phone call from work. They are trying to guilt me into coming in because there's been nobody at Lancome all day. LIke maybe y'all should've considered that before you insulted and threatened to fire the immature floater that you were relying on to cover the counter today. Three more hours won't kill ya, but if I get sicker and miss school, I will go primate-excrement-crazy and Daniel will make me quit my job. How about we not piss off the chick that carried the counter through yet another weekend of awesome sales. Single-handedly I sold more on Saturday than the entire combined staff of a counter twice the size of ours. Vut me so freaking slack already! What do you want me to do, open a vein?
