Already vented in the cantina, but here it goes again:

On a 24 hour staff duty shift. FML :/ Have to pull both squadron and regimental staff duty for this shift, which means I have to go back and forth between the two (although I'm mainly staying at regiment cuz I have a computer to use there). It's frickin cold outside, and the regiment building has no heat...gotta love the army. Probably not going to get any sleep, unless I want to rack out in my cold car or on the floor, and I have to drive straight to San Antonio once I get off tomorrow morning for my little bro's All-State band concert. I'm gonna be tired as crap.

So, I live in a rented house with five other people, either in college or just-graduated. Youngest is 20, oldest is 23, so we're, y'know, closely grouped.

Today, two solicitors came to the house. I was the one closest to the door so I got up to answer. And they said hi, and then asked if my mom or dad was home.

I stared blankly, my brain trying to process the fact that they thought I was a teenager. Then they asked if my babysitter could come to the door, and then one knit his brows and said, "... you're not home alone, are you?"

INSERT VERY LONG CAPSLOCKED STRING OF EXTREMELY INVENTIVE SWEARS HERE. Not only do I apparently look young, but I look SO much younger that they're not sure I can be left home alone. Just... this is ridiculous. This is so absurd shouldn't be getting to me. But they seriously looked like if I said I was alone they were going to call Child Services. The odds of them both having eyesight so terrible that they can't get within a 10-year age range reasonably is rather small. The inevitable conclusion is that I just genuinely appear to be a preteen when I do not have more cleavage on display than a porn star.

that's when you say something like "well, mommy and daddy left around 10 am and told me they were only going to be gone for an hour. it's 4 or 5 now, and i'm worried. do you think someone killed them? maybe they got caught..."

So I spent all damn day on a CPOF (command post of the future) transferring intel products from powerpoint to cpof. CPOF IS NOT INTEL FRIENDLY It's so frustrating...wish I could kill whatever brass said we couldn't use powerpoint anymore. Everyone's gushing about how great cpof is, and while there are some benefits to it, there are so many things that can't be done in it. Grar!

Oh, and it's gonna be a long night. I can hear tanks firing from on post from my bedroom...and I live 20 minutes away from post too...hopefully the big booms dont keep me awake.

My car died in front of the liquor store. I'm used to her doing this and I thought like all the other times, I just had to let her sit a little while. She has a fuel problem of some sort. Anyway...she never turned back on...I had to call AAA to get her towed to my mechanic less than 3 miles away...I nearly cried when she was being loaded onto the flatbed...I hope whatever's wrong with her will get fixed...and it's cheap...:(

So, teh hubs was home sick yesterday. He wasn't all that sick, so it was more like playing hooky, which is fine every now and then. I was hoping he'd go back to work today because he was starting to drive me nuts being home all day. This morning he's barfing and asked me to call into work for him. Ok, I can do that. Dial the office and leave a message on his boss' phone. Except he can't remember her extension and in my barely awake state I can't navigate the stupid automated menu to go through the directory. Keep in mind this is far earlier in the morning than I really want to be awake, but now I'm up and starting to get pissed off. I decided to remote into his work desktop, get into his e-mail, and get the boss' direct number from an e-mail sig. Oh no! There's two username options and I need his password. "Just wait until the office opens," he says. Fine. Whatever.

I should tell him to call his own self in, but I'm too nice. I really hope he sleeps most of the day, or I might have to strangle him.

Okay, last week I called the leave of absence technician. Got her voicemail and left a message that said that I needed information on returning to work. She didn't call me back. So I call again today, and what do I get? Voicemail! I swear her phone must be on permanent Do Not Disturb. I'm sick of it taking 2 phone calls to get her to return a phone call

i hate feeling like the only adult around here. the funny thing is? i'm the youngest person to live in this house. but no...they all wanted to drink last night, so i was informed that i owe someone $16 for a bottle of blueberry vodka (gross) because robert wanted to make jello shots and didn't tell me not to buy his 6 pack that i was going to bring home for him later. so i get home and i'm asked for this $16 that i don't have because i don't want to go back out to the atm since i was super tired. i go down to the kitchen to switch my laundry to the drier...everyone is drinking and yelling in a big circle, so i go and turn off the tv since they were also listening to music and i wanted to actually try and get some sleep since i work today. so they realized that i'm going to bed, and they all go into the basement (which isn't much better because there is an open vent that goes straight to my room upstairs so i can hear and smell everything). at some point, victor makes his girlfriend cry AGAIN and makes her yell and sob right outside my door since she didn't want to be downstairs by him any more. then they start yelling and slamming doors...oh, they broke ANOTHER door btw...about an hour later, i wake up to hear vomiting from like three people...two downstairs and one in the bathroom right across the hall, and upon inspection this morning, there is vomit EVERYWHERE in the basement. thank goodness i never go down there.

hm. my roommate just thought it would be an excellent idea to clean the counters in the kitchen with bleach.

that she poured straight on to the counter.

which was the bleach for me to wash my work shirts.

the house now reeks of bleach and i'm getting high off the smell. if i pass out, i hope i wake up to candles being burned XD

Sometimes I think our governor is trying to get the entire state pissed at her. Seriously.

Is it November yet?

Now she's declared tomorrow "Michigan Meatout Day", where you're supposed to not eat any meat to help raise awareness for healthy living. And, guess what, she got the entire agriculture against her. You know, the second biggest industry in the state she's supposed to care about.

She tried to cover her butt by later saying it was "Agriculture Day" and to support anything Michigan-grown, including meat.

I just love how all kinds of stores and butcher shops are putting a huge sale on meat tomorrow.

I'm gonna make sure I have meat in every meal I have tomorrow, including breakfast.
