Wowwwwwww.

and certain males not knowing when to shut their mouths.

And for the record, just because everyone else might not know what you're talking about, doesn't mean that it isn't a flame. I damn sure know that you're talking about me, I'm just always curious as to why you never say anything TO me. I act the same way towards you as I do towards everyone else. When this thread gets too dark and depressing, I do something to lighten the mood. That's it. You can contrive some sort of wild conspiracy if you want, but you're reading way too into it.

I was working on a long post about how bad my life sucks, but of course, of the ways it sucks is that I can't find the power to organize my thoughts enough to finish it. I don't know what I'm going to do if medication and therapy don't work. I feel trapped by life and trapped in life.

I often compose my rants a few days in advance but struggle to get the words in electronic form, myself.

I was wondering if you'd given any thought to meditation? A few simple breathing sizes have helped me to relax amid one of my more serious downswings. I'm trying to pursue it further if I can find the time, but I definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Good thing to suggest to an atheist :p

I just offered the suggestion. If anyone decides to do it, it's their choice. Usually non-Christians (and even many Christians) decide to turn to prayer when things get really messed up in their lives, more often than not because it's a "I've done everything else. What's the harm in trying?" situation. I've found that such hopeless desperation is the best time for a miracle.

I hope when you say "usually" it's in the sense that when an Atheist does happen to engage in prayer, that's what's going on in his mind. I hope you're not saying that when an Atheist reaches a difficult situation, he usually to start looking to God. I hope you're not referring to that "there are no Atheists in foxholes" bulls***.

I can more see an Agnostic trying this because they believe there might be a God, maybe. Atheists are a bit more certain, and thus it's a bit more of a stretch for them to just drop their disbelief. Of course, I'm generalizing like you just were, but for the sake of argument.

I'd imagine that if his life does begin to improve, it'll be a miracle. But if there's no change or his condition worsens, than it's God's will and we have no way to interpret it. Or maybe God's busy working on that drought in Africa that he never seems to fix.

I'd argue that these answered prayers usually begin to take place around the same time that a person is already trying to make positive life choices to fix those problems. God helping those that help themselves, I'd imagine. For those that do believe in prayer, I could also see a placebo-like effect to prayer. If it works for some believers, more (higher?) power to them. But to an Atheist I sense this would serve to only frusterate him further.

that's very true. however, sometimes it's all one can do to get out of bed in the morning. i've been there. and if that's all one can do, that's enough.

Getting paid, paying the bills and barely having enough left to go grocery shopping is AWESOME.

The best part of this economy is nothing.

And Unknown, I don't know if you have the time or not, and this is the most cliched advice ever, but getting involved in some sort of group activity could help too, for two reasons.

1) I'm not nearly as depressed when I have actual stuff going on in my life, cause there's simply no time for me to lie around and mope all day (even if I do find the time somehow.) This week I have an improv audition, three improv shows (both performing in and watching), volunteering with an anti-drug group that I used to active in, a guitar jam session or two and kayaking. If you keep yourself busy, you won't have time to worry. (Though that could backfire and make you more stressed, so watch out.)

2) It's much easier to meet people when you have something in common with them and a scheduled time where you always see them. That's not to say it's easy meeting people, because I think we both know it's not. But most groups are pretty welcome towards newcomers who express an interest in the activity. So it's easier than it would normally be.

Well, wonderful. We're getting evicted. My parents have been summoned to magistrate court for back rent we don't have. We have no money to move or rent with. And I know my mom's going to want me to pay all this money from my excess loan money but that is SUPPOSED to go toward needed dental work, psychologist, psychiatrist, car repair, and making car payments. And I'll be left paying off the damn loan down the road.

Mind you, the woman won't try for her disability or for a job. I'm already behind on my car payment because we didn't have the money to run on. I want so bad to get off the sinking ship and save myself but I ewoking can't. I don't have the money to make it work.
