But on the upside, we've found out that the Mini Cooper has the highest resale value here in the states. He bought it for about 21K, and the insurance company is going to give him 24K for it! It's worth more now than when he bought it!! So that's cool.

But, we're still all upset, as we do not know what the fate of teh Mini will be.

Wtf? I've never ever heard of a car appreciating in value... Are you sure the insurance guy wasn't smoking crack? lol

Maybe it's just a Michigan thing... but there's an insurance plan you can get, it's the bare minimum or something..I forget what it's called.

PLPD and medical. You get $500 if you total your car out and it wasn't your fault and it covers medical bills in an accident. That's all I've had on my last 2 cars. Now the Impala has full coverage

I know, it's weird, but after the grief the dude gave my buddy, I don't think he was pulling anything.

Over here the minimum is "third party"; which basically covers you if you injure someone else or damage their property.

Most common here is "third party, fire, and theft"; same as above but includes your vehicle being burnt or stolen.

Because it was an american built piece of sith....everyone knows that Prin. :p;)

(and not only do cavaliers have leaky roofs...they have no structural strength regarding side impacts....which is why I cringe when someone says that they've found a car at a great price and then go on to say it's a cavalier.)

I drove a cavalier all through college. No denying it was (is) a piece of sith, but no leaky roofs! lol Now I have a Civic Ex :D

Hey...I currently drive a cavalier...and it suits me quite well :p

I really haven't had a single problem with it since the $500 I put into when whne I bought it. Had it for...erm...more than a year. No leaky anything...although it likes to shake a lot while in drive with the break on...

No major problems though :p

I love my '99 Chevy Cav. The only problems are that I don't have power windows, my locks and doors freeze shut in the winter, its a 3 speed auto which means my mileage drops hard when driving over 105kph, the defrost takes forever ... I mean forever, and due to its light size and my lack of snow tires, it isn't the best at stopping and going on snowy roads.

On the other side, it fits me like a glove (except the non-telescoping wheel makes long trips painful), the back seat folds to open into the trunk for extra space for er ... holding my skis ..., it drifts and slides well in the winter, it has decent acceleration, and of course its a total babe magnet. I'm getting a pontiac solstice next summer I think, depending where I have a co-op/internship by then I suppose. I'm pretty loyal to GM vehicles, although I wouldn't mind a mazerati spider, or Aston Martin.
