There's a multitude of semi-defined groups here. Though it's never mentioned, respected, or noted, a basic class system exists at some level....from what I can observe. Major problems between said groups are not generally an issue.

in my HS, it's pretty well defined who's who. the jocks, MST nerds, YPAS majors, VA......very easy to tell, but mostly everyon gets along

Something else that really bugs me at the moment? Avril Lavigne and people who change themselves for others...to be like them. Okay so, changing your image can be no big deal. Changing some things to make yourself a better person is okay. But becoming something that you aren't (from something that you really weren't in the first place) is what drives me nuts. Like, there is this girl at school and she thinks that she is a prep, then she says how much she loves the way pink and black go together and she has to wear those two colours everyday (so now she is saying that she is goth and how much she loves Hot topic which I know really scares the crap outta her), and now she wants to be 'preppy' again. Whatever. I mean, yeah, I like the way that pink and black go together too, but you don't see me wearing one of my pink and black thongs everyday.

Now I've got you thinking..."What does Avril Lavigne have to do with anything?" well, take one girl, cotent with the way she is and not caring what people say. She can't sing. Now, make her a music artist (with a lot of touch up work) and have her keep her crowds. The trend seems more preppy, so now she is becoming preppy. Drives me flipping nuts! And what's worse? I look like her today. My hai was uberstraight and I was wearing my beanie...and I looked like her...even a complete stranger at McDonald's told me so! Help!

Another person who has changed and is drving me nuts? My ex-boyfriend. He used to be comfortable with himself, normal around people, and hated those who were fake. Now, he's trying to be like them. I mean, my best friend and I have the idea that he is trying to make up for the fact that I am not there. Proving that he 'doesn't need us.' A lot of people are bothered by it. What happened to the guy we used to know? He's becoming one of them and...he has a few of us worried. I don't know how his best friends are taking it. They were awesome together. The trio. Now, I'm told the three of them hardly talk together. He's becoming the very people he was/is against. I'm lost. Why do people feel they need to change into what they're not?

Here is my conclusion.

Change can be good.

But really,

Change can be very very bad.

I don't thing there were really any cliches in my high school. Pretty small, 700 people in four grades. Except the "hellions and criminals" didn't really like to be friends with everyone else, or maybe it was the other way around ...

I don't understand it. I think though, I have such a wide array of interests, that I naturally have an array of friends. I have friends who only play sports, friends who are musicians, friends who are republicans, friends who ski, friends who are studious (nerds, I guess)

I like the term nerd though ... remember revenge of the nerds? Ya those movies were cool

...having to meet with my academic mentor/honors advisor every semester.

My school has more groups than I can count, but I'm scattered across a few of them. There's your basic goth, ghetto, jock groups, etc. I do play a lot of sports, but I'm not a jock at all. There's your punks, nerds, and others. I'm mainly in the rocker group. Meaning, we all like music and play it. Some do, some dont. I also scatter into the tennis players group and video games/movies group. And, of course, Young Republicans.
