TheUnknown 39 Posted April 14, 2006 Would the Thrashers make up their damn minds?! They're going to the playoffs. Then, they're not. Then, they are. Then, they're not.

TheUnknown 39 Posted April 18, 2006 Ya know. I'm really getting sick of all the Atlanta/Georgia teams having promise, then disappointing us. Every year, the Braves start the post-season when the hope "This will be the year." And they fail. The Falcons have never had back-to-back winning seasons and went 8-8 last year despite being favored by some to compete for the title. Every year, we hear the mantra that this will be the year the Thrashers make the playoffs and it still hasn't happened. The UGA Football team always plays well at the beginning, drumming up the belief they could win the national title, and then fall. At least the Hawks live up to expections (we predict they'll suck and they do!)

GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 19, 2006 Alright people predictions? Winning team and #of games: Eastern Conference: 1st. Round 1. Ottawa Senators 8. Tampa Bay Lightning Not a cloes game. Tampa Bay is a shell of its Stanley Cup Team. Tampa may get lucky cause Sens are bad down the stretch though (3-5-2 last 10 games) Senators win 4-1 2. Carolina Hurricanes 7. Montreal Canadians Another not so close game. Carolina struggled down the stretch as well, but after the New Jersey v Montreal game last night, I odnt think Montreal could hold a lead. Carolina wins 4-2 3. New Jersey Devils 6. New York Rangers Even with all of NYR's firepower Brodeur seems to be back in shape (10-0-0 in last 10 =/) Devils come in with steam. New Jersey wins 4-2 4. Buffalo Sabres 5. Philadelphia Flyers The whole season, Buffalo has surprised me. A usually sucky team has actually done well. Flyers are hampered with injuries, and unless Forsberg plays, Buffalo wins. Buffalo wins 4-3 2nd Round 1. Ottawa Senators 4. Buffalo Sabres I don't think Buffalo will be able to keep its steam going. With a losing streak near the end of the season, and then the 7 game series in Philly vs the rested Sens, and with new goalies, won't be too close. Ottawa wins 4-2 2. Carolina Hurricanes 3. New Jersey Devils This was hard. Canes were good all year long, but struggled at the end. Devils struggled all year long, but were good at the end. So which is it. I went with Devils and experience. Wll be a close game however. Devils win 4-3 3rd Round (Conference Finals) 1. Ottawa Senators 3. New Jersey Devils This was hard. Can the Devils keep up momentum? I think they might put up a fight, but get worn down near the end. (They can't play their old trap system and stay back anymore, atleast not vs Sens firepower). Sens win 4-2 Western Conference: 1st Round 1. Detroit Red Wings 8. Edmonton Oilers Edmonton stumbled into the playoffs with a disappointing season by Vancouver. Roloson doesn't seem to have enough drive or confidence to become hot (hot goalies, the downfall of redwings in the past). Detroit wins 4-1 2. Dallas Stars 7. Colorado Avalanche A marquee series a couple years ago lol. This time, two shells of great teams play. Stars seem to be doing beter with Modano and Turco. Stars win 4-2 3. Calgary Flames 6. Anaheim Might Ducks Anaheim is another team thats doing good with Teemu Selanne. Kiprosoff though will probably be too much to handle. Calgary wins 4-2 4. Nashville Predators 5. San Jose Sharks Well This would have been a great playoff series, but Nashville has lost a key component in Voukon. With Mason (Who has played only a few games in the NHL) as their starter, the offensive firepower of Thorton (Leads NHL in points) and Cheechoo (Leads NHL in goals) will overpower them. San Hose wins 4-0 2nd Round 1. Detroit Red Wings 5. San Jose Sharks Ana and I will have to make a bet. And once again, Detroit will win . This will be a very good game. I think Detroit will be able to neutralize Thorton and Cheechoo, especially since they play on the same line. If they are able to get past the defenders (Lidstrom, Chelios, Kronwall all having good years), however, that might be trouble. On the other side, San Jose has given up the 3rd most goals in the conference (that are in the playoffs) That could be trouble against the Wings who are ranked 2nd in the league in Goals for. In addition, the Wings add more experience and should be able to fight their way out of tougher binds, than a younger San Jose team (not including Thorton ). Detroit wins 4-3 2. Dallas Stars 3. Calgary Flames Hmmm....this will be tough. It will probably be the lowest scoring series in the playoffs. Flames will edge Stars ans Kirpusoff outplays Turco, though this can seriously go either way. Calgary wins 4-3 3rd Round (Conference Finals) 1. Detroit Red Wings 3. Calgary Flames An offense v. Defense match that Detroit will win. Detroits GF-305 GA-209 vs. Calgarys GF-218 GA-200. Calgary doesn't have enough firepoewr to attack when needed and goaltending only wins when their team scores. Detroit wins 4-2 Stanley Cup Finals East: Ottawa Senators West: Detroit Red Wings Hmmm...the top 2 teams. I think this will be a high scoring series as both goalie situations look not too good (Haseks injured, Detroit has inconsistancy at times). Obvoiusly Goalies are the weak link with teams that boast high powered/high scoring forwards (Heatly and Alfredsonn, Zetterberg and Datsyuk) and great defense (Charo v Lidstrom). This will HOPEFULLY go to 7 games. Yzermans drive for a final cup before retirement! Detroit wins 4-3. Those are my predictions :p

Mara 29 Posted April 20, 2006 3/6? Mm'kay.. I just like to know what's coming up. I dunno GI, I don't think Ottawa has what it takes to go all the way.
GI_Admiral 2 Posted April 20, 2006 They've been pretty dominant all year. Their hardest game will probably be in the Conference Finals vs New Jersey or Carolina
Mara 29 Posted April 20, 2006 Yeah, I suppose so... but, I dunno... Stuff happens. Upsets are always possible. I'm surprised, you gave Caroline credit for going that far.

Princess 35 Posted April 22, 2006 Last night's game was amazing. Edmonton played a wonderful defensive game especially being outshot by double. (I think SOG were 57-25 Detroit). Legace made some spectacular saves, especially with the Shannahan penalty with 1:50 remaining in regulation. Maltby was definitely the star of the game that gamewinner was a thing of beauty. I thought for a while though that the game was going to be decided by special teams because it seemed like the refs were gonna call just like they had been all season, but in overtime they totally swallowed their whistles, one of the things that makes playoff hockey great. Go Wings!
