After what seems like an eternity of waiting, the first official trailer for The Mandalorian is here. It has been almost 15 years since fans were first promised a live-action Star Wars TV show, and this new show from Jon Favreau looks set to fulfil the bargain when it launches along with Disney+ this November.

The trailer was revealed at the D23, and confirms previously speculated details, such as the shows setting between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. While the Mandalorian remains his silent mysterious self, we do see a few snippets of action, including firefight with IG-11, a new character based on everybody's favourite assassin-droid-turned-bounty-hunter IG-88.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as the titular Mandalorian, supported by MMA fighter and actress Gina Carano as Cara Dune, Carl Weathers as Greef, as well as a host of other famed actors.

Ming-Na Wen (Mulan, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD) has also been added to the list of cast, after being announced by Disney chief Bob Iger. Wen has had her eye on a role in Star Wars for a while now, but it is still unknown what role she will play in The Mandalorian.

    • The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian is a TV series set after the fall of the Empire, featuring an all-new cast of characters. It was announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger in November 2017, and will air on the new streaming service Disney+ in late 2019.
The first series will have 8 episodes, and a second series is in production.
    • Untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show

The untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action TV show is currently in production for Disney+. It is due to start filming in 2020.
The show was officially announced, along with the news that Ewan McGregor would reprise his role of Kenobi, at D23 in August 2019, after months of speculation.
It is set 8 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, placing it around the same time as the events of Solo.
    • Hello there! Ewan McGregor to reprise role of Obi-Wan Kenobi?

The return of Ewan McGregor to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi has been rumoured and speculated about for years, and now several news outlets, including Variety and The Guardian, are reporting that fans will finally get their wish.
The role of the Jedi Knight made famous by Sir Alec Guinness first became McGregor's in 1999's Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and he continued in the role throughout the Star Wars prequels. Kenobi was previously all but confirmed to return in a standalone movie before the spin-off anthology films were canned, following the underwhelming (according to Disney execs) performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The new word on the grapevine is that Disney has commissioned a TV series that will develop the story of Obi-Wan, with McGregor signing on for his return. The show would presumably be set during the dark times between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and follow the exiled Kenobi on Tatooine.
The series would of course find a home on the Disney+ streaming service which launches later this year, and would sit alongside The Mandalorian and the as yet untitled Cassian Andor series.
No concrete details have been revealed yet, but with the Disney D23 Expo just around the corner, we are sure to hear something very soon, but until we see Ewan McGregor walk out on stage with a cheeky "hello there!" I certainly wouldn't blame anybody for taking this news with a hefty pinch of salt.
