When I was chatting with friends and we came up with the idea to make a new Star Wars fan site, I had no idea that Galactic Basic would still going fifteen years later. At around the same time I coincidentally bumped into the Psychopathic Jedi on the official Star Wars message boards, and this chance meeting would be influential in shaping GB in those early years. Fifteen years is a big milestone for any website, but we couldn't have done it without you, the members. So on this anniversary I just want to say: Here's to you, and thank you for joining us on this journey.

I've been doing a bunch of background improvements to GB which should mean a more reliable and secure connection to the site, and have been working on a few features. Star Wars Canon Timeline I have separated the canon timeline from the Legends timeline. As usual it isn't complete, but I am happy with the results so far and it should still look great on mobiles. I will continue to add items to it as I get chance, and I'm still not certain how to handle individual TV episodes. HTTPS A little while ago I enabled a site-wide security certificate on GB, meaning that all data between your browser and the server is encrypted. You might have noticed the padlock icon in your address bar already. A caveat of this is that some older posts with embedded images will now be unable to display the image if it isn't available by a secure method. New posts with unsecure images will be automatically upgraded though. Static resource improvements Previously, every file and image would generate a cookie, even if it didn't need one. I've moved all static resources to a cookieless subdomain, which should be better for performance. Probably not a major one, but every little helps!

It would be cool... I imagine Lando sitting in a cantina in the aftermath of The Force Awakens telling people tales of his old friend Han Solo. Maybe they should have hired me as a writer.

Happy birthday GB! Thank you, B, for creating this marvelous haven of Star Warsy craziness. I literally cannot imagine what my life would have been like without this place in it.

well, I happen to notice in one of the other threads about the Reddit leak and what was thought to maybe be the title of eps. 8 "Fall of the Resistance" didn't sound so bad and was a bit more creative than "Last Jedi", but I've come up with a few more possible titles...see what all of you think. How about.... Star Wars Vlll.....First Order of Business or Kylo Ren and Stimpy Days of Rebellion / Knights of Ren ( or Knights of Wheat and Rye or even of Correllian ale) or Star Wars Vlll: The Quest for even more obscene amounts of Money
