Well, I think I failed miserably last year. :p

I think I'll combine movies at the cinema and at home, because I only go to the cinema a few times in a year at most.

Movies

  • Kingsmen: The Golden Circle
  • When We First Met
  • Thor: Ragnarok

TV shows

  • Beyond (S2, in progress)

Games

  1. Wipeout Omega Collection (PS4)
  2. No Man's Sky (PS4)

Books

  • None yet. :(

I should point out the 10 thing is my goal.  It doesn't have to be yours.

Here are my more pipedream-type goals:

Read 24 books this year (two per month)

Watch 52 movies total (one per week)

It's a bit different... scale-wise (It's a winter reading club, so the time period for me is beg. of Jan. to end of March, so I guess if anyone wants to give it a go, just pick any three consecutive months lol), but thought I'd jot down the one I'm doing with my local library, with my current progress, in case anyone else is interested in trying it out for themselves.

Simple rules: Just read six books from the following categories and then an extra four if you have time (can be any book you want/doesn't have to follow the categories). The point is sort of to stretch past your reading comfort zones into genres you perhaps don't usually read from.

(I have left out the categories that have to specifically do with a service my particular library offers)

As you can see, many are vague and left up to your own interpretation as to what they entail.

- First in a Series

- For my New Year (basically something that has to do with a resolution)

- Chilled me with Horror

- From childhood  -- -- Mustang: Wild Spirit of the West by Marguerite Henry

- Made into a movie or TV series

- Recommended by a librarian -- --  The Girl Before by J.P. Delaney

- Retelling of a classic story

- A travel memoir

- Written by a [insert your state/province/county] author (mine is Michigan of course but use what fits your location)

- Nonfiction

- A debut novel

- Teen novel

- Graphic novel -- -- The Old Guard: Book One: Opening Fire by various

- Published between 1900 and 1950 -- -- The Ox-Bow Incident by Walter Van Tilburg Clark

- Biography or memoir

- Local indie

Last four:

- Point of Origin by Patricia Cornwall

- Rogue One graphic novel adaptation by various

- Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Volume 2: Doctor Aphra and the Enormous Profit by various

-

Will edit as I go along... just about another month to go, and I need to read four more books haha.

Interesting.  What happens if a book fits into multiple categories?

Mara's rules seem to complicated for me. I'm just going with the flow. :p

Then you pick whichever. :p

If it was me, I'd go with the one I'd have the hardest time finding another one for, and find another book for the others.

For example... If I wanted to read The Hobbit. Since it was Tolkien's first, it would count as debut novel. But it would also fit in the movie/TV category. But since I can think of a lot more for that, I'd keep Hobbit in debut.

Not rules.... suggestions. :p

You could totally come up with your own list of genres/types of books you don't usually read and go with those. If you want to break out of your reading comfort zone lol.

Officially done with my TV shows, but counting Sherlock and Beyond Stranger things seems like cheating as they're so short.
