Ayingel 24 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) I must finally be a grown up. Robert and I have less than a week to get the house clean while working holiday schedules before my parents come to spend Christmas Eve with us. I also still have to wrap ALL of my presents Edited December 19, 2011 by Ayingel

Sin 2 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) Docs visit was good.,,got a ton of blood taken.,,and should have the results by Friday...based on that it's either going to be a huge amount of money of alot to fix my crazy body. But at lest I will soon know what the root issue is..the doc thinks its due to low progesterone but won't know for sure till the blood results come. Drinks are on me! Pandora 77 Posted December 20, 2011 Sounds like we kept to the spirit of Freudian psychoanalysis to me. Don't tell my anti-Freud major professor.... Speaking of Freud... there's a movie that came out in limited cities about Freud and Jung. Kierra Knightly plays a sex crazed patient. Looks interesting ... Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted December 20, 2011 I think you had Furday at "Keira Knightly as a sex-crazed patient." :p
Pandora 77 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) For some reason it wouldn't NOT embed this. So here's the trailer. The movie is rated R and there's predictably adult themes but nothing explicit. Okay one statement is explicit, so don't play it if you don't want to hear about Knightly's weird turn-ons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=664eq7BXQcM I've got to commend the directors for not using Rorschachs in the graphics of this trailer (I initially thought they did until I looked more closely). It would be an easy thing to do and few people would notice that, while the "art" of interpreting inkblots has been around for centuries, Rorschach didn't develop his until AFTER Freud had fully established psychoanalysis as a treatment method. It's amazing what relatively useless knowledge you retain when you write a 20-page paper on something.... Edited December 20, 2011 by Pandora
Bad furday 57 Posted December 21, 2011 I think you had Furday at "Keira Knightly as a sex-crazed patient." "I mean...look at Kiera Nightly, she's just an ironing board with a face....but she works." Hehe, yes But only if she wears that pirate getup she wore in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End! What does that say about me? :p
Drake 53 Posted December 21, 2011 Hmm. I'm a fan of Michael Fassbender...but I hate Freud....
Pandora 77 Posted December 21, 2011 (edited) His theories start out well but sort of disintegrate halfway through. Naturally his research is poor but in the end if it weren't for him psychology wouldn't have moved into the realm of a treatment. It would have stayed in Jung's lab and been purely research. Then where would we be? Edited December 21, 2011 by Pandora

TheUnknown 39 Posted December 21, 2011 Pod, have you read anything on political psychology? I'm interested in political behavior, but haven't had the opportunity to look at political psychology that often. I know Drew Westen has a book called Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation. I've wondered about links between personality and politics. I've also literally wondered if there's a link between personality disorders and politics, considering my unscientific observation that liberals tend to suffer from a form of political Battered Wife/Stockholm Syndrome while conservatives seem to have political penis envy. Pandora 77 Posted December 21, 2011 I haven't, actually, but personality theory is a good place to start. Social psychology is probably where any political stuff would fall. The only researcher I know personally that MIGHT have done anything on the topic is Dr. David Houston. He's a social psychologist with an interest in WWII politics and propoganda. He's at the University of Memphis, if you use the PsycInfo database (it's Ebsco) you should be able to find him. As to your psychopathology joke (which did make me chuckle, I'll admit)... nah probably not. You're more likely to find differences in personality theory. There is, however, I substantial link between giftedness and psychological disorders, that I find interesting (but not interesting enough to study).
