ROFL I don't go cause I don't have insurance that covers it, I keep up with my brushing/flossing and I have amazing teeth with no cavities ever.

I don't have dental insurance either, but I still go every six months. :p

I used to have no cavities... then I skipped 2-3 appointments while I looked for a job and after I wasn't covered by my parents after college, then waited to see if my job's plan would add dental. And my first visit after the gap, I had a couple of 'em. Well, not real cavities--they were more like holes/pits on the side of the tooth--but I still needed them filled up.

Plus, honestly, I love going to the dentist. I find it relaxing, getting my teeth cleaned.

:eek: Seriously? I HATE the dentist!! I'd rather get twenty thousand prostate exams than go to the dentist. I want them to knock me out whenever I get my teeth cleaned. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE DENTIST!!!

The dentist is alright. I just have to pray every time I go that I get a good dental hygienist. A couple of them are a little too zealous while cleaning and end up cutting into my gums. One time I went to rinse and it looked like a bloodbath.

Kia, you might want to check if there are any colleges around with dental hygiene programs. The students need people to practice on and it's relatively inexpensive usually

Yeah um... no...

I'm with James on this one and Drake for that matter... I hate the dentist with a passion, and everytime I go I get some butcher who cuts up my mouth horribly.

Ask for an anti anxiety med. I have to have some before I go the dentist...even for a cleaning. Makes it a bit more bearable...and my insurance covers the pills.

Not a bad idea, actually.... But don't tell Daniel. He might actually arrange it and then I'll HAVE to go...

In other news, I would just like to announce that I LOVE my cat. As evidence, I submit Exhibit A(wesome):

So we just moved in with my in-laws. I have two relatively chilled out cats (Morgan the baby, and Merlin, the black Bombay not-sure-he-ISN'T-a-real-panther). My in-laws have two of the most obnoxious, hyperactive beagles EVER. Seriously, I will NEVER own a beagle after being with these two. EVER.

The cats have kinda claimed the upstairs as their domain (it's where there stuff is). Hank, the more hyperactive of the two knuckleheads, came sniffing around this morning, interrupting Merlin's second mid-morning nap. Merlin has apparently stopped offering warning growls. I've told Hank to go downstairs several times, and I finally gave up because, let's face it, he's too dumb to figure it out. Merlin, I soon found out, had it entirely under control. After one snuffle too many, Merlin sprang into action, hissing and swatting, claws fully extended, driving the dog not only out of the room, but to the top of the stairs. Hank hopped down about two or three steps and Merlin, now silent and looking like a pissed-off ninja, stalked quickly but low to the top of the stairs, ears flat, eyes narrow, and by sheer strength of will, drove the much larger animal down the stairs halfway. The dog turned and looked up, naively hopeful, and Merlin, not having ANY of that, nor fooled by Hank's self-proclaimed cuteness, very slowly raised his right paw ever so slightly as if her were considering pulling back for another flailing... Hank immediately ran away, tail between his legs and has not been back upstairs since. Merlin, meanwhile, waited to be sure the dog was gone, looked up at me, relaxing obviously, and telepathically sent me a message that said "Damn I'm good" before sauntering back to his perch atop the sofa.

Therefore, I conclude, my cat is an awesome cat. I wish he could be taught the concept of a high-five.

And that is case and point why I will ever have a cat. Generally, they're too bossy, demanding, and solitary. Hank was curious and never wanted to be part of a fight. He let himself be whipped because he didn't want to cause any harm to the cat. That's why I like Beagles (I have two). One is docile, the other is hyper. They're both friendly and loving. We have two dachshunds who are also friendly and loving. I can pick my dogs up and move them if they're in my spot. Most of the time, I get no protest, sometimes a growl, but a quick "Hey!" will stop all that nonsense. Dogs can be trained, can be taught, and respond to stimuli better than many other animals. They're intelligent (well, most are. Beagles, Bichons, and others are quite dense, lol), they're pack oriented and follow a pecking order, and they're INCREDIBLY LOYAL. There is no better loyalty to be found than with a dog. They're more loyal than most humans. Cats feel like they're in charge even when they're not. Dogs know who's in charge and will submit if trained correctly, but they will also dominate if they know they can.

Of course, their are exceptions to every animal. I've known cats that act like dogs. They were really cool animals. I also know dogs who are bossy, demanding, and solitary, and I'm glad mine aren't like that.

And, of course, this is IMHO. I don't hate cats, I don't like to see harm come to them, quite the opposite, in fact. I think every animal should have a good, loving home. But, I'd never own a cat.....

Especially because one of my dachshunds is allergic to cat hair!

He allowed the cat to be the dominant one. He didn't want to be. He's been trained to be submissive. He's a pet. ALL pets should all be trained that way.

I've had quite a few Beagles in my life, 10 altogether. They're great at hunting. Brilliant masters of it. They work together so well. But, when it comes to other matters, in my experience at least, they're dense. :p

I almost always get the same one. (The one time I didn't, she had vacation or something). And the only problem I have with her is she talks too much. :p

But seriously, though, I do find it relaxing.

I'd go more often than every six months if it was more cost effective. :p

Even in submissive animals, there's still a hierarchy among animals when they interact. It's natural, even if they are trained to be submissive to humans.

*shrugs* Some dogs wouldn't accept it. My one Beagle wouldn't, the other is placid. One of my dachshunds doesn't stand for any animal being up in her grill, the other doxie is rather docile and loves all animals. Dogs are like humans: they vary so much in their personalities. It's extraordinary.

Ironically, I haven't been to the doctor for a physical/checkup since I was 19. :p

After switching insurances, I've been too lazy to find one.

James: this is the ninja cat that fetches better than any dog I've EVER had, and I've had some awesome dogs. He's that kind of cat that challenges species boundaries. But that dog totally had it coming, and Merlin knew it.
