Pandora 77 Posted November 14, 2007 I did. Why else would I be here. Because I have things to do? Seriously, I was supposed to go test drive GTOs and Trans Ams today and then it effing rained. Like I need to be behind the wheel of a 6 liter V8 in the rain when I don't own the car. I'd be wrapped around a tree in 2.4 seconds.

Andy 60 Posted November 14, 2007 30 days straight of no work gets boring REALLY quick. I could think of plenty of things to spend 30 days doing... :p
Uncle Du 22 Posted November 14, 2007 If it's spent being naughty then it's all good. ;)
TheUnknown 39 Posted November 15, 2007 Damnit. Okay, you know how I told you about the water shortage in Metro Atlanta. The governor of Georgia recently had a prayer meeting to pray for rain a few days ago. It just started raining. The fundies are gonna be insufferable® now. Uncle Du 22 Posted November 15, 2007 Oh gimme a break. I believe in God and all, but I know just how they're gonna react. Expect him to get elected to another term. :p
Bad furday 57 Posted November 15, 2007 Let's hire a policeman to occupy the toilet stall next to him ;)
TheUnknown 39 Posted November 15, 2007 He's term-limited, so he won't be re-elected as governor. However, he's been mentioned as a Vice Presidential nominee. Also, he leaves office in 2010, right when one of our Senators is up for re-election. This senator has widely been mentioned as a possible gubernatorial candidate. I wonder if they might try to switch jobs.
Mara 29 Posted November 15, 2007 Oh gimme a break. I believe in God and all, but I know just how they're gonna react. Expect him to get elected to another term. Yeah, I know... And it's not as if there wasn't any rain in the forecast.
Pandora 77 Posted November 15, 2007 Those cars are sweet. No kidding. Now if it would just stop raining long enough for me to drive them! Damnit. Okay, you know how I told you about the water shortage in Metro Atlanta. The governor of Georgia recently had a prayer meeting to pray for rain a few days ago. It just started raining. The fundies are gonna be insufferable? now. I saw that on the news. Apparently a bunch of libs had their panties in a wad about some separation between church and state crap. Conveniently forgetful of the Consititution I say. (No offense about the lib remark, btw. I've just moved so far to the right I think Bush is a liberal wimp now. *shrugs* Maybe I should move to Texas.)
TheUnknown 39 Posted November 15, 2007 One, the Constitution forbids the blending of church and state. Two, the people protesting it were a bit too over-zealous.
Mara 29 Posted November 15, 2007 And there were only like 20 protesters.
Radioactive Isotope 29 Posted November 16, 2007 the words "separation of church and state" are nowhere in the Consitution. that's just what someone somewhere inturpreted it to say, and now that's what we use. but it actually only forbids the formation of a state-run religion (ie, Church of England), where the government creates and maintains churchy business. personally, i don't see anything wrong with calling for prayers to the deity of your choice, or none at all. no one says you have to pray, just for those who choose, perhaps a concentrated effort will get the results they need. but then, i'm one of those people who would pray. i believe it works. but i know not everybody does. that being said, i'm glad you guys got some rain. however it got there. Uncle Du 22 Posted November 16, 2007 This is a bar, and I forbid the mixing of alcohol and politics. Unless we're all REALLY drunk. :p
TheUnknown 39 Posted November 16, 2007 JM, favoring one religion over another is a de facto establishment of religion. (BTW, the rain did little good. Atlanta is still going to shrivel up in a couple of months.)
