    • Alphabet Squadron pilots revealed

If you have had an X-wing shaped hole in your reading list for the past few years then you've probably been waiting for Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron, the upcoming new canon novel from author Alexander Freed.
Alphabet Squadron is the start of a new trilogy of books set after Return of the Jedi that follows a team of pilots brought together by General Hera Syndulla, who we first met back in Star Wars Rebels. Each pilot flies a different class of starfighter (X-wing, Y-wing, A-wing, B-wing, and U-wing) and together they are tasked with hunting down the mysterious Imperial fighter squadron, the Shadow Wing.
      Yrica Quell
      Ship: X-wing
Yrica is the leader of Alphabet Squadron. She was formerly in the service of the Empire, but defected after the Battle of Endor.
      Kairos
      Ship: U-wing
Kairos is as distant and unknowable as the void through which she flies. Just as her monstrous mask hides her face, her silence hides her past. All her copilots understand is her loyalty to the Republic, and the frightening violence that she employs in its name.
      Wyl Lark
      Ship: A-wing
A youth spent on the backs of flying beasts on his peaceful, remote homeworld gave Wyl Lark a near-supernatural gift for piloting, and a well of kindness and empathy that has never run dry. But war is a precarious place for a soul as gentle as his.
      Nath Tensent
      Ship: Y-wing
His easy demeanor makes him seem like a starport lunkhead, but don’t be fooled: Nath Tensent is a survivor. He outlived his unit, he outlived the Empire, and now that Lieutenant Quell has pulled him back into the war, he’s determined to outlive her, too.
      Chass na Chadic
      Ship: B-wing
Chass na Chadic has watched her heroes fall one after another in the name of freedom, leaving her behind; now, as the tide turns, Chass is adrift. Alphabet's mission may be her chance to find meaning in her life—if she can be convinced not to seek it in death.

Alphabet Squadron is set for release on 4 June 2019, and you can get the low-down on their rivals the Shadow Wing in the Marvel comic series TIE Fighter, out now.
