  1. If you have had an X-wing shaped hole in your reading list for the past few years then you've probably been waiting for Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron, the upcoming new canon novel from author Alexander Freed. Alphabet Squadron is the start of a new trilogy of books set after Return of the Jedi that follows a team of pilots brought together by General Hera Syndulla, who we first met back in Star Wars Rebels. Each pilot flies a different class of starfighter (X-wing, Y-wing, A-wing, B-wing, and U-wing) and together they are tasked with hunting down the mysterious Imperial fighter squadron, the Shadow Wing. Yrica Quell Ship: X-wing Yrica is the leader of Alphabet Squadron. She was formerly in the service of the Empire, but defected after the Battle of Endor. Kairos Ship: U-wing Kairos is as distant and unknowable as the void through which she flies. Just as her monstrous mask hides her face, her silence hides her past. All her copilots understand is her loyalty to the Republic, and the frightening violence that she employs in its name. Wyl Lark Ship: A-wing A youth spent on the backs of flying beasts on his peaceful, remote homeworld gave Wyl Lark a near-supernatural gift for piloting, and a well of kindness and empathy that has never run dry. But war is a precarious place for a soul as gentle as his. Nath Tensent Ship: Y-wing His easy demeanor makes him seem like a starport lunkhead, but don’t be fooled: Nath Tensent is a survivor. He outlived his unit, he outlived the Empire, and now that Lieutenant Quell has pulled him back into the war, he’s determined to outlive her, too. Chass na Chadic Ship: B-wing Chass na Chadic has watched her heroes fall one after another in the name of freedom, leaving her behind; now, as the tide turns, Chass is adrift. Alphabet's mission may be her chance to find meaning in her life—if she can be convinced not to seek it in death. Alphabet Squadron is set for release on 4 June 2019, and you can get the low-down on their rivals the Shadow Wing in the Marvel comic series TIE Fighter, out now.

    Rogue One rumors surface

New pictures from Pinewood apparently show X-Wing starfighters that will appear in upcoming spin-off movie, Rogue One. The pictures from TMZ show classic Star Wars trilogy style X-wing's with individually distinct engines, unlike the updated versions that appear in The Force Awakens. This fits in the known time period for Rogue One, which is said to include the mission to retrieve the plans to the Empire's first Death Star prior to the original Star Wars movie, A New Hope. Making Star Wars has also reported on some leaked character details, including a character named Galen played by Mads Mikkelsen who may be the Imperial scientist in charge of the Death Star project. Meanwhile, rumors have surfaced that a young Han Solo cameo could happen in the movie, as Disney and Lucasfilm reportedly come close to selecting the actor who will play the smuggler in the later Han Solo movie which is scheduled to release between episodes VIII and IX. According to Variety, producers have a shortlist of actors aged between 17 and 34, including Miles Teller (Divergent), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in our Stars), Scott Eastwood (Gran Torino), Emory Cohen (Smash), and Blake Jenner (Glee) amongst others. A trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars story is also rumored to be attached to the release of Captain America: Civil War later this year, while the film itself is scheduled for release on 16 December 2016.
  3. A pair of Star Wars fans from the UK have sent a model X-wing into space, in the hopes of securing tickets to the premiere of The Force Awakens. The duo are an Essex group that use weather balloons to take photographs of the Earth from space, and to get the production teams attention they attached a model X-wing to one of their balloons and send it to the edge of space at a cost of around £1,200. They recorded the video and tweeted director JJ Abrams their plea for tickets.

    X-Wing: Mercy Kill

All I can find about it is this article on Wookieepedia, but it's supposed to be about the Wraiths and happens at the end of LOTF. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/X-wing:_Mercy_Kill

    X-Wing: Solo Command

Their covert mission has been a success. The enemy has been vanquished. Or so they thought. The Super Star Destroyer Iron Fist somehow escaped destruction and with it the New Republic's greatest threat, the infamous warlord Zsinj. To defeat him, Wraith Squadron must join a combat task force led by the only man crafty enough to beat Zsinj at his own game: Han Solo. But Zsinj knows the X-wing fighters' indomitable courage is both their greatest strength—and their greatest weakness. For even against the most overwhelming odds, the Rebels will fight to the death. And that will leave Zsinj the galaxy's unchallenged master!

    X-Wing: Isard's Revenge

Sleek, swift, and deadly, the famed X-wing fighters have earned their reputation as the Rebel Alliance's ultimate strike force the hard way—first in battle, the last line of defense. Now they must make a deal with the devil herself—an enemy whose ultimate goal is their total annihilation. It's the kind of mission only Wedge Antilles and the Rogue Squadron would dare to undertake. Against impossible odds they will stage a daring raid into an enemy stronghold—only to be rescued from certain destruction by an unexpected ally. Ysanne Isard, the ruthless Imperial commander, has appeared on the scene seemingly from out of nowhere. Now she proposes a most unusual alliance, offering to help Wedge rescue his captured comrades from Imperial Warlord Admiral Krennel's sadistic prison camp. But her offer is not without a price. Wedge must lead Rogue Squadron in Isard's deadly struggle against an enemy made in her own image. It's an offer Wedge would love to refuse, for Isard is certain to betray them. But how can they leave their comrades at Krennel's mercy? The answer is: they can't—even if it means being caught between Krennel's ruthlessness and Isard's treachery.
