  1. Celebration Anaheim attendees were treated to a special teaser of upcoming spin-off Star Wars: Rogue One this weekend.Speaking at Celebration Kathleen Kennedy and director Gareth Edwards revealed new information about the upcoming spin-off, which has only one cast member confirmed so far - Felicity Jones, who will allegedly play a Rebel soldier. Those attending the panel were also treated to a special teaser trailer which has leaked online, which confirms the setting as being pre-A New Hope, with a plot revolving around Rebel Alliance forces retrieving the plans for the first dreaded Death Star. The teaser trailer is at this stage more of a concept reveal, as the film has not yet started shooting, but is certain to whet the appetites of eager fans. Edwards also stated to fans that "the absence of the Jedi is omnipresent in the film. It hangs over the whole movie", and further elaborated that the difference between the good guys and the bad guys may not be so clear cut. The spin-off movies will be known as 'Anthology' films and will be stand alone features that form part of the official canon but do not rely on the core characters of the main Star Wars saga. Rogue One is currently scheduled for release on 16 December 2016. Click here to view the article

  7. Metalocalypse director John Schnepp has stated in an interview that a Boba Fett movie is already in pre-production.It was reported several months ago that Disney planned to intersperse the movies of the main Star Wars saga with spin-off films unrelated to the main story, but focusing on specific characters from the saga. As Boba Fett is perhaps one of the most loved minor characters from the classic Star Wars trilogy, it may be no surprise that Disney want to create an origin story for him. Joe Schnepp revealed the information during a press interview where he said that he knew for a fact that one of the spin-off movies was a Boba Fett story written by Lawrence Kasdan and already in pre-production. Fett received the origin treatment in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, when it was revealed that Boba was a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. It is currently unknown whether a new film would explore this in more detail or take place in the gap between the classic and prequel trilogies. With the expanded universe no longer canon, it is currently assumed that Fett's death in Return of the Jedi has been reinstated. Click here to view the article
