This article will be regularly updated as new information is confirmed, and we'll avoid rumours so you can be sure you have the facts. Keri Russell's character is Zorri Bliss, who we will meet in the Thieves' Quarter on a new planet called Kijimi. Rochard E Grant's character is Allegiant General Pryde, an office of the First Order. A new species of creature called "orbak" has been introduced, and promotional imagary shows Jannah (Naomi Ackie) and Finn riding these. The natives of the planet Pasaana have been revealed. The presence of the Knights of Ren has been confirmed, See also: The Rise of Skywalker: New characters revealed Teaser Trailer Release Date Star Wars Episode IX is currently set for release on 20 December 2019. Disney had initially announced the release date as 24 May 2019, but this was pushed back due to production delays. Production Principal photography began at Pinewood Studios near London on 1st August 2018, and is expected to complete in February 2019. Some scenes have also been filmed in Wadi Rum, Jordan. The working title is “Black Diamond”. IMAX cameras will be used to film some sequences. The film's soundtrack will once again be scored by Star Wars veteran John Williams. Williams has said that this will be his final Star Wars movie. In February 2018, Paul Inglis joined as the Lead Supervising Art Director. He had previously worked on Blade Runner 2049, Prometheus, and Skyfall. Principle photography wrapped on 15 February 2019, as announced by director JJ Abrams. It was previously slated to be directed by Colin Trevorrow, who worked closely with The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson to ensure continuity between their respective movies. Trevorrow left the project in September 2017 due to “creative differences”. Disney had to pay off Paramount Pictures to secure Abrams, as he had breached contract with them for The Force Awakens. Carrie Fisher Carrie Fisher was due to have a major role in Episode IX as General Leia Organa. When she tragically passed away in December 2016 the story team “pretty much started over”, according to Kathleen Kennedy. Lucasfilm was quick to quash rumors that Leia would be digitally recreated, similar to Tarkin’s appearance in Rogue One. Fisher's brother and daughter have granted rights for Lucasfilm to use recent footage of her, but Kennedy has since stated that Fisher will not be in Episode IX. In July 2018 it was announced that with the blessing of Fisher's family unused footage from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi will be used to allow the inclusion of Leia. Sadly I am not all-knowing. If I've missed something or have made an error, please let me know in the comments below!
  2. According to sources from IGN Middle East, the actor was on the Episode VII set. But whether this is because he's got a secret role in the movie (though he has said that that would be stupid for him to be in Star Wars), or he was just visiting his friend, director J.J. Abrams, is still up in the air. Just one of those things we'll probably have to wait and see about. Link
  3. Director JJ Abrams has revealed that the Star Wars Episode VII script has been finished after it was delayed last year.Abrams was asked at the Television Critics Association press tour while promoting his new series Believe, where he stated that the script is complete and they were now in "deep prep" for filming. He spoke about Imax, too, and said that he would use Imax if the situation was right for it. "The problem with IMAX is that it’s a very loud camera. It’s a very unreliable camera. Only so much film can be in the camera. You can’t really do intimate scenes with it. It’s slow. They break down often." There has also been more recent casting rumours, such as Breaking Bad star Jesse Plemons, who although earlier in the week denied his involvement with Star Wars Episode VII, Abrams has since confirmed that he has been in talks with Plemons. Dame Judy Dench has also been tipped for the role of Mon Mothma, but this is more likely to be purely wishful thinking. In related news, Carrie Fisher has told reporters that she, along with Mark Hamil and Harrison Ford are due to start filming in March or April. Fisher can also be seen with James Earl Jones in an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory later this month. Click here to view the article
  4. Several rumours have surfaced recently that suggest that Mara Jade Skywalker is set to make her movie debut in Star Wars Episode VII, after receiving an on-screen introduction in upcoming television series Star Wars Rebels. This news comes after hearing about the great expanded universe shuffle for which Disney have convened the Lucasfilm Story Group to create a single version of Star Wars canon that encapsulates the expanded universe as well as the movies and new TV shows. Including a hugely popular EU figure like Mara Jade could have far reaching implications on the expanded universe. As the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of their son Ben, Mara features heavily in the New Jedi Order and Legacy eras, and has an extensive backstory as a highly skilled Force-sensitive Imperial operative, an Emperor's Hand. JJ Abrams has recently told press that all Star Wars Episode VII rumours so far have been false, but he said similar things about rumours for Star Trek: Into Darkness which later turned out to be true. If true, it will be interesting to find out whether EU elements have been incorporated into the latest movie, or whether the timeline as we know it is to be totally overwritten with a brand new continuity, which has been suggested might happen. The new movie is due to start filming later this year, and is slated for cinema release on 18 December 2015.

    Script ready: Full steam ahead!

  9. Abrams is notorious for remaining tight-lipped about his movies, and the same is true when it comes to Star Wars Episode VII. Abrams hinted that he wants to return Star Wars to it's grittier space-western roots of the classic movies, rather than the scintillating cities of the prequel trilogy. Speaking to The Times newspaper he said, "I loved how Star Wars had that sense of a world far beyond the borders of what you can see and have been told – it's one of the things it did so brilliantly. "If you watch the first movie, you don't actually know exactly what the Empire is trying to do. They're going to rule by fear – but you don't know what their end game is. "The beauty of that movie was that it was an unfamiliar world, and yet you wanted to see it expand and to see where it went." This echoes previous statements that suggest Abrams was trying to make Star Wars Episode VII more like the original movies, however there is still no solid confirmation of what form the story will take or even who has even been cast.
