  1. Star Wars: Battlefront II: Celebration Edition will be free on Epic Games Store from 14 January until the 21st. The game will, for next week only, be free to keep as part of your Epic Games library, with the previous two years of content that was previously available through in-game purchases. As the second game in the rebooted series from DICE and EA, Battlefront II is playable both online and offline and includes familiar heroes and villains from across the franchise up to and including The Rise of Skywalker customisations that were released on 20 December 2019. So set a reminder for 14 January to check the Epic Games Store, as the offer won't be around forever.
  2. DICE's Star Wars Battlefront has opened the floodgates for gamers to sign up for the closed alpha testing of this eagerly anticipated game. One of the most eagerly awaited Star Wars video games in years, the long awaited reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise has now launched the closed alpha sign-up process. The alpha is only for PC users, and does require an Origin account to join. You can head over to the Battlefront alpha application site now to apply for one of the limited spots available. Not everybody is being accepted, however, but if you are successful you will receive a confirmation email and see Battlefront appear alongside your other games in your Origin library. Launching the game is disabled for now but will be available to install from 1st July, ready for alpha testing to begin. As it is an alpha, you can expect bugs and inconsistent performance issues, with the system requirements allegedly being that you need a quad-core CPU, 6 GB RAM, at least an Nvidia GeForce GTX-680 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 with 2 GB RAM, and 64-bit versions of either Windows 7 or 8. Star Wars Battlefront is due for release on 17th November 2015, but in the mean time here is 5 minutes of gameplay footage from the game: View full article

  4. EA has confirmed that it's new Star Wars shooter will be at E3.Development on Battlefront (no longer titled Battlefront III) is apparently going very well, according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson. He stated during an interview that the teams use of the Frostbite 3 game engine has enabled the developer to push forward with a high quality quickly. It is still unknown whether the game will be playable at E3 as the expected release date is currently over a year away, having been set late 2015. Battlefront was announced during last years E3, and is being developed by DICE, the studio responsible for the Battlefield series of games that started with acclaimed World War 2 shooter Battlefield 1942. As the first Star Wars game to be released since the Disney takeover, the firms involved are likely to pull out all the stops to make this a huge success. Click here to view the article

  6. So far the only confirmed game in development is DICE's next installment in the Star Wars: Battlefront series, with development and support continuing as planned for the MMO The Old Republic. EAs chief financial officer, Blake Jorgenson, insists that they do not plan on simply creating games based on the movies and will continue to delve into and add to the rich diversity of the expanded universe. BioWare, original developers of the Knights of the Old Republic series, and Dead Space developer Visceral have also been mentioned in connection to future Star Wars titles. Unfortunately, however, there has still been no sign of a revival of the eagerly anticipated 1313 project.
