  1. Disney are reportedly eyeing up a new Star Wars animated series for the Disney+ streaming service, and it will take the form of a sequel to the acclaimed Disney XD show, Star Wars Rebels, according to First Order Transmissions. They also report that Rebels and The Clone Wars producer/director Dave Filoni will be returning in some capacity. Star Wars Rebels spans a period of time from 5 BBY up until after the events of Return of the Jedi, and ended in March 2018 after four seasons. The finale saw the crew of the Ghost face off against Thrawn, and ended with Ahsoka Tano and Sabine joining forces to search for a missing Ezra Bridger. All of the main characters of the show had a definite resolution to their arcs, with the exception of Ezra, with Dave Filoni remaining tight-lipped on the young Jedi's fate. With Star Wars: The Clone Wars returning for a seventh and final season in February 2020, exclusively on Disney+ and predicted to be a big success for the fledgling streaming service, it's a sure bet that Lucasfilm will be looking to bolster their Star Wars offerings. For those not in the know, The Clone Wars was an animated Star Wars film and Cartoon Network animated series, introduced Ahsoka Tano as the padawan of Anakin Skywalker, and developed their relationship and her eventual exit from the Jedi Order. As a fan favourite, Ahsoka's reappearance in Star Wars Rebels was met with praise. In The Rise of Skywalker, Ahsoka's voice is heard by Rey as she channels the power of the Jedi, appearing to confirm that she had become one with the Force by the time of the sequel trilogy, however Dave Filoni has since teased that we have not seen the last of Ahsoka, and perhaps The Clone Wars season 7 will not be the last time we do.

The Clone Wars season 7 updates

When Star Wars: The Clone Wars was cancelled by the our Disney overlords in 2014, it was almost universally decried as a bad move. The much loved animated series had lasted for six seasons and there were still many untold stories. Unlike a lot of expanded universe material at the time, The Clone Wars became part of the new canon timeline, and in 2018 it was announced that the series would return with a new season on the new streaming service Disney Plus. Now, at Celebration Chicago we have had new information about the upcoming series, along with some concept art that can be found on the official site. During the panel saw a clip of fan favourite Ahsoka Tano venturing into the depths of Coruscant's infamous level 1313 (mostly infamous amongst fans for the cancelled video game). Ahsoka herself has had a costume redesign, bridging the gap between her Clone Wars outfit and her appearance in Star Wars Rebels. Darth Maul is also set to return with a new look that is closer to his appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and he will have an epic lightsaber duel with Ahsoka. Ray Park who played the Sith Lord in The Phantom Menace returned to provide the motion capture for the fight to ensure the battle's authenticity. One of the highlights for Dave Filoni was completing the Siege of Mandalore, which was a storyline that had grow from ideas forged with George Lucas before the show was cancelled, and he credited Lucas for laying the foundation for the series and mentoring him. A new trailer was also shown at the end of the panel, which you can see in full below. It doesn't look like the trailer has been published on it's own yet so if you're only interested in the trailer you'll want to skip through to around 52 minutes in.

    Ahsoka Tano novel announced!

To coincide with the finale of Star Wars Rebels season 2, Disney-Lucasfilm Press has announced a new young adult novel featuring one of the show's favourite characters, Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka is a brand new story featuring the character who was originally introduced to fans in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series. The novel is set after Order 66 and will serve to fill in part of the gap between the end of the Clone Wars, during which she was the padawan of Anakin Skywalker and eventually left the Jedi Order, and Rebels, which saw her anticipated return as a Rebel operative. Dave Filoni, Executive Producer and Supervising Director of Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars had this to say to fans: "Ahsoka has a long history, and there is much more to it than the fans know. I have always worked on her story, even parts that I know we will probably never see on screen. By broadening her story from the animated series to the written page, I feel we have a real opportunity to provide fans with details about her character that they would not know otherwise. We are also responding to the strong fan support that we have seen Ahsoka receive over the last eight years." Ahsoka by EK Johnston will be released on 11 October 2016.
  5. Disney XD's hit TV show Star Wars Rebels is due to return this summer, and brings with it the return of a character established in the expanded universe. The return of Star Wars Rebels will be on 20th June 2015, it has been revealed, with a one-hour long premiere episode titled The Siege of Lothal. The episode was first shown to fans attending Celebration Anaheim earlier this year, and features the return of a fan favourite character established in the former Star Wars expanded universe television series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka Tano was the padawan of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars, and in many ways she was to that series what Ezra Bridger is to Rebels. Now an experienced Jedi in her own right, it has been said that she will become a mentor figure to the young Jedi in training. Rebels season two also sees the return of Darth Vader, with James Earl Jones reprising the role of providing Vader's voice, and this is sure to bring trouble for the crew of the Ghost as Vader seeks to hunt down his former apprentice.
