  3. Zeb Orrelios has been described as "the muscle" of the crew of the Ghost, and will be voiced by veteran anime and video game voice actor Steve Blum. Blum spoke to IGN about his reaction to being cast in Star Wars: Rebels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw86B-GFsDU Blum adds Rebels to his extensive list of voice credits, which includes everything from Cowboy Bebop to Wolverine and the X-Men, and even several other Star Wars titles including Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and The Force Unleashed. Zeb's species is so far unknown, but is based on the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art for Chewbacca.
  4. According to a report from Jedi Temple Archives, Lucasfilm has informed Hasbro to stop making new expanded universe figures, or even re-releasing old ones. So far there are only a few exceptions to this instruction; rereleases of Bastila Shan, Darth Malgus, Republic Trooper, and Starkiller have all been given the go-ahead due to poor distribution on their original run. Hasbro will instead be focusing on the new Star Wars: Rebels line and classic trilogy characters, and while the prequel era is not off-limits we can expect to see a decrease in activity there too. It could be that this is just a precaution while the Lucasfilm Story Group consolidates canon into one cohesive continuity, but it does seem to back up earlier rumours that the Star Wars expanded universe as we know it has its days well and truly numbered.

  7. This news comes after hearing about the great expanded universe shuffle for which Disney have convened the Lucasfilm Story Group to create a single version of Star Wars canon that encapsulates the expanded universe as well as the movies and new TV shows. Including a hugely popular EU figure like Mara Jade could have far reaching implications on the expanded universe. As the wife of Luke Skywalker and mother of their son Ben, Mara features heavily in the New Jedi Order and Legacy eras, and has an extensive backstory as a highly skilled Force-sensitive Imperial operative, an Emperor's Hand. JJ Abrams has recently told press that all Star Wars Episode VII rumours so far have been false, but he said similar things about rumours for Star Trek: Into Darkness which later turned out to be true. If true, it will be interesting to find out whether EU elements have been incorporated into the latest movie, or whether the timeline as we know it is to be totally overwritten with a brand new continuity, which has been suggested might happen.

    Star Wars Rebels

Disney and Lucasfilms have announced that a teaser trailer will be coming for Star Wars Rebels the show announced to take the place of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. There isn't a lot of information regarding exactly how this series will fit into the timeline, however, representatives are stating that the show will take place during the time between the original trilogies, "in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape," which seems to mean that the show will likely start shortly after Episode III. The announcement of this show has been much anticipated since the cords were cut on The Clone Wars to prepare for this show. The series is not set to premier until 2014, but the teaser trailer is set to premier on Disney XD around 8:30 PM ET/PT, and is anticipated to be online shortly thereafter. Keep in mind, we won't have a huge glimpse of the series at this time, but the 1 -second trailer should really boost curiosity for viewers of all types. Producers for the show will be none other than Dave Filoni (Supervising Director for Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Greg Weisman (of Gargoyles fame), and Simon Kinberg (screenwriter and producer of X-Men: First Class, and Sherlock Holmes) who will also be writing the first episode.
