The Star Wars Holiday Special

Chickenman

Just in time for its 30th anniversary, here it is.

No need to thank me.

Really, you don't want to thank me for this.

The Star Wars Holiday Special

:puke:

I watched the whole thing on an old VHS my freshman year in college. One of my friend's roommate's had it ( is that Dark Helmetish or what? :p)

I understand now why George wanted to destroy all copies of that.

The scene with Lumpy and that sining chick is certainly subliminal! ;) ;) :p

*snicker* Bea Arthur! *snicker*

My brain shut down at about 7 minutes.

That first scene with the wookies literally lasts forever. One ages one hundred years by watching one minute. It has no end and no beginning. It is eternal.

But really, you have to watch it with the right frame of mind. I reveled in the horribleness. I was laughing my ass off the entire time.

Wookies have astroturf carpeting! Who knew?!

This was filmed soon after Mark Hamill's car crash, I believe. So they went overboard with the makeup and made his face look like Michael Jackson crossed with Carrot Top. And I think you can really see Carrie Fisher's drug problem here. :( However, I think being in a drugged stupor was the only way to make it through production without wanting to off yourself. :p

I don't want to watch it. I fear it will destroy my belief in Star Wars.

If it's any consolation, GL had almost nothing to do with it. It was all handled by variety show people and Lucas just slapped his John Hancock on it. Probably one of the reasons he's so protective of the Star Wars license these days, actually. Only he's allowed to murder it. :p

i admit, i couldn't watch it straight through. i took a few breaks to get moar caffiene, some snacks, throw the ball for the dog....had to give the poor brain time to recover before i subjected it to more awfulness.
