Okay, we'll assume that this CD does in fact have songs you are familiar with and was not a blind purchase.

I start with the songs I know then move out. Usually, I'll listen to those for a while, then go through and listen to the first few seconds of the others. If I like what I hear, I'll keep listening.

I try to see if I can find it on iTunes first...listen to see which ones I like and don't like...and then decide if it's worth spending more for the actual CD.

I don't buy actual CDs. Why bother when its cheaper online? lol

When I get albums though I generally listen to them from the start to finish first.

Since the majority of the CDs I buy are soundtracks, it helps to listen to them in the correct order, so beginning to end.

I generally only buy cd's by artists I'm familiar with...so I usually know what to expect. Beginning to end, and usually for a day or two afterwards depending on how good it is.

I'll listen to the songs I know first if it's at the beginning. Usually I skim it first though, while I'm driving. It would be too much of a good idea to keep both hands on the wheel.

Well, it can't be that distracting press "skip" on the player... I mean, you have to take a hand off the wheel to change gear and stuff anyways. lol

That's why I drive automatics.

not if you drive an automatic. :p my grandmother's car has a skip button on the steering wheel. see? problem solved. :p

I was responding to Beeurd's comments about changing gears, thank you. :p If you're driving an automatic, the only times you have to touch the gear shifter is when you have your foot on the brakes.

I'd only drive an automatic.... I can't concentrate enough for manuals.

I think, even though I work at a Drive Thru, that I have only ever seen like 5 automatics go through. And I used to work on the window almost every day for nearly 2 years :p

Brits don't like automatic much... I've noticed that.

Personally, I prefer it... leaves a hand free to mess with my iPod.
