Saber Blades In Ps

Recommended Posts

Mickey

I'll post some of my PS-ed saber blades when I get the chance, but anyone else with some cool ones they've done: let's see 'em.

I'm working on different colors right now, I like this silver blade I did right now

I'd do something like that if I were less lazy...

I'd need a hilt of some sort though. Yeah...that might be important.

And I'm not spending $200 on a fricking Replica.

Meh, just spray paint a cardboard tube silver and stand far enough away so that you can't tell :p

Anyways, I did my blade in Paint Shop Pro 7, by the way.

Here's a couple different colors I've done. they're under "(insert color here) blade" in the me folder.

Think the best was the silver.

IMO the dark and the blue were too fat The Pink fricken blinded me :p and the silver was almost perfect!

yeah I do like the silver best. The pink I was goin kinda artsy and got a little carried away with lighting effects. maybe if I take away the lens flare on the end of the others it would look more natural.

put a new dark blade up now, maybe this is a little better

I didn't think a black blade would really be black, since a black light isn't really black ...

Well, no, because if it was black then it wouldn't be light... lol, it would be dark. :p

Black would be the absence of light....hence...the contradiction. A 'black' lightsaber?

But it looks pretty cool anyway :p

well "blacklights" look like dark purple ... so that's what I was goin for a blacklight saber if that makes more sense?

anyways what other cool colors should I try?

I tried making a saber blade in Psp 7, but I couldn't figure out how :(

I dunno how to use computers to color and stuff like that... And, apparently, I'm not smart enough to figure it out, lol.

here's how I do it...

make a new layer, or it might do that automatically, then make a off-white (slightly the color of the blade) rounded rectangle the length and width of the inner core. erase the end coming out of the emitter so it matches up with the hilt. I like to use skew if the saber is held at an angle and I also like to add a slight Gaussian Blur effect to it.

now make another new layer and rounded rectangle that is the color of the blade and forms an aura of about 2 widths of the core, again erase the hilt end and apply any skewing if needed. Then do a Gaussian Blur on the aura. and that's it.

I also like to play around with the opacity of the layers too. Just do those effects and play around with the adjustments until they look like you want them too.

I've also experimented with the lighting effects render effect.

oh yeah can't forget the lens flare. use a somewhat low brightness, 35 or 50mm for the hilt end and the 100mm for the tip, place them on the end of white core but on the aura's layer.

Whee! I shall go attempt that, since I'm playing with banner makeage at the moment ^^

Thanks!

EDIT: I don't think Psp has a lens flare....oh well, still looks pretty spiffin' ^^
