Microsoft has been made aware of a worm identified as ?W32.Sasser.worm? and it is currently circulating on the Internet. The worm exploits the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) vulnerability fixed in Microsoft Security Update MS04-011 on April 13, 2004.

PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Windows 2000, Windows XP

Windows XP Security Update

You should download that patch asap. To know if your infected you will get the following messages.

A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code 128. The machine must now be restarted.

A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000005. The machine must now be restarted.

You should get the same message with a status code -1073741819.

Damn it! My school had better get it's firewall back up soon because I keep getting repeatedly hit by it. Thank the Force for Norton AntiVirus. At least I'm not crashing every 5 seconds like I was before
